Marriott has a new policy - if you stay less than 7 days they won't clean your room. That is not how it looks when you read their policy (see attached photo and below), but they will refresh your room (clean towels and take out your trash (sometime) every other day. The rest is up to you. Si if you go and see piles and bags of trash outside rooms or in the trash cans by the elevator, this is why. Their posted policy does not make this clear - it says "every other day service, not mentioning that service means towels and trash only (if they remember). After several attempts to get an answer, I finally received slightly more detail in an email: "Me: What is service? Housekeeping services, for Select and Extended-stay Hotels, such as Residence Inn, are divided into three categories. Please note, if you have your DND sign on your door, we cannot enter your room. Full Clean - This happens on the seventh day of your stay. Your kitchen, living room, bedroom, and bathroom areas are fully cleaned. This does include a linen change. Refresh- This happens every other day of your stay. Your dirty towels are replaced with clean towels and your trash is emptied from all bins, in your suite. This does not include a linen change. Wellness check - This happens if housekeeping services are declined and the guest is staying for more than seven nights. Me - If I stay in a Marriott, do I get proper cleaning every other day? Marriott's Housekeeping model is different for each category of hotel. Premium Hotels, excluding Resorts, will offer Daily Service Select and Extended-Stay Hotels will offer Every-Other-Day Service (Residence inn is Extended-Stay) Luxury Hotels/Resorts and Premium Resorts will offer Daily Full Clean Service While staying at our property, we are happy to provide you with clean sheets, extra towels, toiletries, or any other items you may need, if available. " So I will probably move back to Hilton (full clean every other day) as soon as I have cashed in all my points.
