Adventures at Sue's Retreat .......

Lovely accommodation. So warm and comfortable. Sue and Gary were marvellous hosts with travel and dining tips for the local area. Highly recommended Would definitely stay again

Sue’s Retreat is a wonderful place to stay in Mount Gambier. Well appointed, very clean and peaceful. Sue is a great host and made us feel at home.

Wonderful stay Had a lovely overnight stay. Accommodation was fantastic as was communication with host throughout.

Two warm weeks We decided to stay here for a restful break in early Winter. Not unexpectedly it was rather cold and wet outside, but the Unit was wonderfully warm and well insulated despite the weather. The bed and couches were very comfortable and the kitchen was easy to work in. We chose to bring a slow cooker and air-fryer which meant we rarely went out for meals. The hot water worked well and the hosts were helpful and friendly. My husband uses a walking frame but this was easy to manage in the Unit. The elevated position of the Unit was a bit more demanding for packing and unpacking the car but the view of Mt Gambier township from the Unit was great.

A Perfect Stay at a Thoughtfully Designed Cottage Studio We had a fantastic weekend staying at this charming cottage studio. From the moment we arrived, Sue and Gary were warm and welcoming—friendly and full of great local tips, yet never intrusive.The cottage itself is beautifully presented—clean, spacious, and thoughtfully designed to make guests feel at home. The little touches made all the difference: bread in the freezer (including gluten-free options), a lovely selection of jams and spreads, butter, and even individual bottles of milk paired with neatly portioned cereal in mason jars. The bathroom was also well-stocked with toiletries and toothpaste, which was a nice bonus.For those who like to unwind, there’s a well-curated selection of books, local brochures, and even Sudoku for a bit of a challenge. The location is fantastic, backing onto a reserve with direct access to the walking path around Valley Lake—though be warned, the locals might downplay just how hilly it is! The scenery is arguably even prettier than the well-known Blue Lake walk, which is also nearby.Shops, cafés, and tourist sites are all within easy reach, and for us, the highlight was being able to walk to and from the festival at the old gaol with ease.All in all, a wonderful place to stay—highly recommended! Perfect accommodation in Mt. Gambier Sue and Gary are the perfect hosts in this lovely suite. Enjoying the provided but unexpected self prepare breakfast, was a very welcome surprise. The setting is lovely and both made us feel right at home.
