The hotel is at the foot of Mount Cook, which is perfect for glacier hiking the next day. It only takes a few minutes to drive to the trail or heliport. The hotel rooms are not big, but there is a very large communal kitchen where everyone cooks dinner because there is no catering nearby.

We booked a hotel at short notice. It was almost 22:00 when we arrived at Mount Cook. The front desk was already off work, so we left an envelope and keys. The facilities are just a motel, nothing special. It's okay if you just stay for one night. I took photos of the Milky Way at night. The next day we went to stay at the Hermitage. Of course, if it has facilities, we would recommend the Hermitage next door.

The lodge is self-catering, so it's best to buy groceries before entering the lodge. Also, the restaurants that were open five years ago were no longer open, so the Hermitage Hotel was the only one I had, and for a solo traveler like me, eating was a hassle.
