After the original owner sold the building, it was vacant for a long time and then changed owners several times. The hotel is now called Residenz Seehotel Motzen. In the old days, when the restaurant was still called *Märkische Stuben*, we as regular guests enjoyed the excellent cuisine and outstanding service for many years. Now we found out some time ago that the hotel and restaurant were open again. I immediately opened the website and what I read about the restaurant raised hopes of earlier times. It is described as a fine dining temple with excellent culinary delights, a symphony of flavors. So my husband and I went there full of anticipation and unfortunately had to find out that this description is massively exaggerated. I can get various schnitzels with chips, currywurst with chips, spiced meat, farmer's omelette, Königsberger Klopse and spare ribs in any good country inn and I would not necessarily classify these dishes under the category *culinary delights and symphony of flavors*. There was also pikeperch and beef fillet, which were also more or less standard. They were slapped on the plate rather carelessly and were very large. When I made a comment to that effect, I was told that there were containers for taking the leftovers away. When I think of the term *fine dining temple*, I imagine something else: there are only simple wooden tables with cutlery and small paper napkins in jugs on the tables. The menus were in the cheapest plastic sleeves. Regarding the staff: one of the waiters addressed you immediately using the informal “du” form: *Have you found anything yet?* If you wanted something else, you had to press a call button on the table and even though it wasn’t that busy, nobody came. You always had to wait for the waiter to serve other guests and then signal that you wanted something else. One of the waiters had just come back from a smoking break. She smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke – an absolute no-go for me as a die-hard non-smoker. Since our food (goulash soup, beef fillet - just medium - and farmer's omelette) tasted good and the prices for the dishes were reasonable, I'll give it three points, but we won't visit the restaurant again because, contrary to the promise on the homepage, our senses were by no means taken on a unique taste journey
