The hotel staff is great. The rooms are huge but need renovation. My bath tube had problems with water drainage. Taking a shower while the water reached my ankle. Not pleasant. The breakfast is fair enough. But had another issue. I asked for a fried egg and the waitress denied. “No more eggs”. A few minutes later a local guest asked and got it on a plate. As I questioned the double standard there was no understandable answer. Sad experience. At night the street are very dark around the hotel and there are plenty homeless people.

The hotel was very comfortable and the rooms were very comfortable. We had booked with a month in advance, confirmed by phone before arrival, everything came perfect until we arrived and did not let my husband and children come in. I wasn't at the hotel yet, but I had already warned that I who made the reservation was coming a little late. We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Montevideo but there are improvements needed. We travel to Uruguay from the US every 1- 2 years to visit my husband's family and have stayed many places. This hotel is beautiful but the rooms were not as comfortable as expected. We wouldn’t stay here again unless improvements were made because comfort is very important when traveling such a long way and staying up to 2 weeks. Pros: The hotel decor is visually beautiful. The staff are friendly, courteous and helpful. It was nice that some of the staff spoke English. My husband is a native Spanish speaker and it was great that he didn't have to translate the restaurant menu for me. The morning breakfast was very good and the staff there great. The views from the 10th floor hotel bar and DJ were fantastic. Cons: Not worth the price of the upgrade, and not what you would expect for a hotel with hotel with 4+ rating. We asked if an upgrade was an available at check in because we were staying for 11 nights. We were offered a Suite room that was bigger in size and has a small kitchenette. The size of the room was better for us for a long stay but unfortunately the bed was the worst bed we have ever slept in. It was way too soft, no support and the pillows were too soft. I realize of course this is also about preference but we have stayed at many hotels and have never experienced such a horrible bed. We traveled a long way and a good nights rest is always important. The bathroom- I prefer a long sink or his/her countertop when we travel so that we can arrange our skin care, makeup, beauty products etc. This sink was tiny so I had no place to put my toiletries when getting ready. The lighting is too dark in the rooms even with the curtains fully opened. When I was getting ready, I could barely see anything. A dimmer light switch would be much better. It would also be nice if Restaurant Polo Bamba had a rotating menu for dinner options.

The hotel is beautiful. As soon as you get inside you are greeted by the receptionists, who are extremely friendly and polite with everyone. As you get in the room, using your card, you can see the bathroom to the left and the TV and beds at the end of the hallway. Next to the bed, there's a small kitchen and a table, just in case you want to cook something there instead of going out. The cleaning crew wasn't very punctual, we never knew at what time they were coming to clean the room and they would always forget to restock the toilet paper or the towels but after a few complaints everything was solved and it never happened again. Apart from that, the rest of our experience staying there was amazing!

Good location, in Punta Carretas, just a few blocs from the ramblas and within walk-in range with restaurants and shopping places. Large rooms, with very good beds. Average breakfast, with few options. The price was very good. The check in experience was not very good, they didn't find the reservation, which was made directly... At the check out, they forgot that we had payed a guarantee of 20% of the stay, and charged the full amount, and had to refund it... Over all very good option in Montevideo.

Excelente todo, la ubicación, las habitaciones, el desayuno y sobretodo el trato del personal. Sumamente recomendable! Sin duda para repetir. Estuvimos en una habitación de 4 y fue super cómodo todo , la cocina americana un plus.

Stayed in the hotel for two weeks. The hotel's location is perfect. The staff is friendly and helpful, and they helped me in everything I needed. The room is comfortable and clean, as well as the whole hotel.

Breakfast was not too good but acceptable. No extra beds should be possible. There should be no problem with children and the location is quite good, next to the sea, the sea view room looks good. There are parking spaces, not many.

This place was perfect in every way. The check-in, the room, the service, and the dining room staff were all wonderful. Our room was clean, the water was hot, and the bed was comfortable. This hotel is ideally located as well. The mall and grocery are within walking distance, and some excellent restaurants are also within walking distance.
