Hotel Souvenir

I highly recommend Hotel Souvenir. I'm a Hilton Lifetime Diamond member, so I stay at a lot of hotels. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was crisp and clean. My wife and I were there in the second week in July, so the weather was very hot, and the air conditioning was wonderful. The breakfast buffet was outstanding! This was one of the best buffets I've had. You could get eggs cooked any way that you wanted them, multiple types of fresh fruit, cereals and pastries. You could stay past the time of your check out and they provided a beach towel and shower, so you could enjoy the beach longer. I would recommend taking the train to Monterosso from La Spezia. It was a beautiful train ride and this avoided having to find parking in Monterosso. On Google maps it appeared that you could drive close to the hotel, but you can't, so the train is the best option. This is a GREAT place to STAY!

We stayed here for 3 nights in October, and I highly recommend it for a 2-star hotel! The two things that we look for in a hotel are cleanliness, and central location. This checked both of those boxes, plus the staff and breakfast were wonderful. This hotel is located in the Old Town, which is an easy 15-minute walk from the train station in the New Town (where the beaches are). When you’re walking down the main stretch where all the restaurants and shops are, take a right, and the hotel is located down a path. We felt very safe in this area. Also, if we bought a souvenir, we could easily run back to the hotel to leave it in our room because it was so conveniently located. The day that we arrived, we had lunch and drinks at PanE Vino, where we got made-to-order panini’s. We spent a lot of time exploring all five towns, and we had some lovely seafood dinners in Vernazza since it’s one town over, making for a quick train ride! When I first started planning the Cinque Terre part of our Italy trip, I was overwhelmed with questions, such as whether to stay in La Spezia and take the train in, or to stay in one of the five towns. There’s so much conflicting information out there, but I’m glad I did the research and decided to stay in Monterosso, because it was a perfect base.

The property was in a quiet location of the town. Breakfast was plentiful, the staff was friendly and helpful, and we totally enjoyed our stay.

Good breakfast, location and staff The stag was incredibly friendly. The location is really great. The room that we “upgraded to” was tiny. They also told us when we checked in they upgraded us further to a nicer room than we purchased but I didn’t see how that could be. The room was just a bed with a small desk and a bathroom. Again, great staff, great location but the room itself left something to be desired. We could clearly hear the people in the room across the hall as if they were standing in the bathroom talking to us. Like their whole conversation clearly. Breakfast was great. Parking was either on the street far away or a parking garage that you paid nightly for. We opted for the parking garage. We would stay there again but lower our expectations.
