Fairmont le Château Montebello

The hotel itself and grounds are stunning. It's expensive to stay here. We paid almost $500/night for the cheapest room. You are definitely paying for the experience with the grounds and the hotel (lobby, atmosphere, etc) instead of fancy rooms. Our room was on the second floor in the Champlain wing. It was located near a utility room and was very loud and sometimes we would feel vibrations in the room. It has a rustic feel like the rest of the hotel. I've definitely stayed in much nicer rooms for cheaper prices. I can sleep through anything so the noise didn't bother me much when I was sleeping. The air conditioning worked great too as it was an extremely hot day - 40C. We had the buffet breakfast at the restaurant and it was pricey but really good.

we have been lucky enough to stay at most of Fairmont's old hotels throughout Canada. This one is unique but has many of the same features. A gorgeous sunny (HOT )day meant for lovely river views at the pool (which needed more umbrellas for shade!). Many chairs along river to sit and enjoy scenery in shade. Kids also enjoyed the option of the "indoor" pool (which had doors open adding to the enjoyment!). We ate lunch from the take out stand (same menu as restaurant and took to the riverside. Our room was a king bed in Papineau wing. Good size room but typical of these hotels with a VERY tiny bathroom. Lots of cupboard and sitting space. One of the best things is the windows opened!!! So lovely fresh nighttime breezes. We did not partake in the BBQ due to large family size and severe vegetarians that Made the $75.00 per person price rather high.. Easy walk into town for great meal in one of the restaurants on main st. This is a great resort hotel with so many activities available in a beautiful historic setting. Lovely staff.
