Casablanca Unique Hotel

Had a lovely break at Casablanca hotel, very helpful staff,good facilities,great location,huge brekky, defo going back again.

I recommended this hotel to my sister and brother in law who are visiting my here in Mertola they wanted to chill in a hotel for a couple of days before onward travel. They are experienced travelers and Francis's job has taken him and Linda all over the world and stopped in 5 star accommodation, their experience of Casablanca , " Linda , said lovely big comfortable clean room ,lovely people and a fantastic relaxed atmosphere xx

I would absolutely recommend this hotel. It has a Moroccan vibe and looks lovely. The staff are amazing. My room was nice and big. The bathroom floor and the shower basin were a bit tired but other than that it looked lovely. It’s a great location in Monte Gordo.

The GOOD: all the staff were welcoming, professional & accommodating; particularly the bar & kitchen staff. The pool area was clean and welcoming. The BAD: one of the reasons we chose this property was the ‘ free parking’ - which turned out to be an issue. When we arrived and were unable to locate any available parking and advised the front desk where we parked (in a parking lot behind the building across the street) - we were told - “not a problem” - until we were ticketed. Then we became aware there were only a limited amount of CASABLANCA parking spots - which were all full - we advised the front desk staff a lot of the vehicles didn’t have the hotel parking sticker…they didn’t appear to care as did not act on the vehicles parked there without hotel stickers…. The bathroom had ants on the floor & counter - we then kept our supplies in the sink which until then didn’t have ants - and then they invaded the sink. A few times I woke up to ants crawling on me. The air conditioner would often make clunking sounds and then proceed to shout out chunks of ice in the room…. The bed - we’ve never experienced such a hard mattress… The UGLY Probably because if the moisture from the AC unit on the balcony, mold was in the corners of the balcony… We initially thought about vacating- even if it meant losing our $ we paid upfront for the 3 nights - however there was extremely limited availability in the vicinity and there appeared to be parking issues with those properties and we’d take a chance on those being an improvement - so we endured and chalked it up to ‘ adventures in travel’

Excellent staff, basic but acceptable, good value. However I had a MAJOR problem, I was bitten very severely by bed bugs with more than 50 bites on my arms and hands alone. Yet they say they found no evidence of bed bugs so how can you stay there?

I spent 3 nights at the hotel having driven over from the Costa del Sol where I now live for most of the year. I used to visit the Algarve with my late husband and it was the first time I had been back in 10 years. I had a pleasant stay in the hotel. It was clean and comfortable with a very good choice for breakfast. Dinner was also fine as I didn’t particularly want to eat out alone. I managed to park outside the hotel each evening. A good base for what wanted.
