I have not seen a recent review on TripAdvisor - they don’t reflect the current situation with this establishment. After a very nice dinner in the local area, we returned to the Awakenings Inn to be greeted by the smell of cigarette smoke within the Inn. The establishment has no smoking rooms and a no smoking policy throughout the premises. Not sure whether it was the owner or a patron who was responsible, but it is totally unacceptable! As for our room, the bed was past its “best before” date as it sagged in the middle, squeaked terribly with any movement, and we had a terrible sleep. The lighting was dim and inadequate for shaving or putting on makeup. The floor under the bed was dirty, and the inn has a musty smell overall. Others have mentioned the traffic noise, no change in that regard. The only plus was the good quality toiletries provided and the charm of the antiques plus a nice kitchen and breakfast area. Breakfast itself was very basic but okay: bagels, muffins, cream cheese, jam, coffee, orange juice. I intended to tell the patron about our negative experience but they were not present during breakfast the following morning.
