The gardens at the Cortijo are beautiful, the views are spectacular and the rooms are pleasant. However I visited in the ‘off season’ when the spa treatments and dining experiences were unavailable. I would have appreciated being given that information in advance. In the ‘off season’, only cold platters of meat and cheese are available for dinner. The pool was available but a touch chilly. I paid the room rate which is for two people, so as a singleton this proved to be an expensive stay. The bottom bedsheet was seriously scratchy and I was only given a single duvet for my king size bed! I know that in theory that’s all that you need, but it’s not very luxurious is it? Drinks are self served using an honesty bar set up. Therefore I think this place may be great to visit when it’s warmer and busier. I expect there will be a livelier atmosphere and there will be spa treatments, yoga sessions and great food and wine experiences on offer, but in the ‘off season’ it felt like we were just an inconvenience to our hosts.

Via een grote poort kun je de binnenplaats van Cortijo El Sarmiento binnenrijden. Er is ruimte genoeg in de carport. De kamers liggen aan liefelijke hofjes met prachtige fonteinen. Als we naar de tuin met zwembad lopen, hebben we een adembenemend uitzicht over het dal. De cortijo ligt bovenop een berg. We kijken uit over boomgaarden met sinaasappel- en citroenbomen. In de verte doemen de hoge bergen op. Aan de andere kant zien we de witte huizen van het plaatsje Mojácar schitteren en de Middellandse Zee liggen. De kamer is prachtig en gezellig. Een heerlijk bed, ruime kast, een zitje, wat wil je nog meer. De badkamer is sfeervol. Vooral de tegels in verschillende patronen van pasteltinten vinden we erg mooi. Een regendouche, wastafel en toilet maken het geheel compleet. We genieten elke dag van een heerlijk ontbijt met o. a. versgeperst sinaasappelsap van sinaasappels uit eigen boomgaard gemaakt, evenals de sinaasappelmarmelade. Kortom, een prachtige cortijo, op een prachtige plek en gerund door twee fantastische mensen! Zeker een aanrader!

Das B&B ist wahrlich ein Paradies. Die Einrichtung ist sehr liebevoll und individuell gestaltet. Carsten und Yvonne sind wundervolle Gastgeber. Man fühlt sich wirklich wie bei Freunden zu Hause. Sie nehmen sich Zeit und geben informative Tipps, was man sich (nicht nur) in der Umgebung von Mojacar anschauen kann. Das Frühstück ist sensationell lecker und reichhaltig. Es ist kein Restaurant, aber man kann abends eine kalte Platte bestellen die unfassbar gut ist. Alles in allem ist das B&B sehr zu empfehlen. Schade, dass wir dort nur zwei Nächte waren. Wären gerne länger geblieben.

Siento que me van a faltar palabras para este alojamiento, para resumir resalto el trato de los dueños, encantadores y atentos con sus buenos consejos y atención, la limpieza y cuidado de todas las zonas y un desayuno buffet muy fresco y con un poco de todo...aaaah y solo adultos, que para descansar es IMPRESCINDIBLE. Deseando encontrar el momento para volver.
Pd. Hace falta coche pero en 9 min estás en Mojacar pueblo y en 16min llegas a Garrucha, muy bien comunicado (la playa tambien a 15 min)

Un hôtel absolument charmant, que nous avons adoré, le plus bel hébergement de notre tour en Andalousie. Un havre de paix avec un très beau jardin et de belles chambres bien agencées. Carsten et Yvonne sont des hôtes accueillants, leurs conseils pour visiter la région et pour les restaurants sont excellents (a suivre sans faute !). Tout dans cet hôtel est très bien pensé, on sent que Carsten, le propriétaire, soigne personnellement les détails. Une excellente adresse dans cette région d'Andalousie. Nous y retournerons !

Na de super relaxte vakantie van vorig jaar, hebben we er ook dit jaar weer voor gekozen om te verblijven bij Cortijo El Sarmiento. Even helemaal onthaasten. De stilte en rust van de kleinschalige B&B, de diverse massage en welness opties, het heerlijke dagelijks verse ontbijtje met fruit uit eigen tuin en de gastvrijheid en behulpzaamheid van de eigenaars. Royale kamers van alles voorzien, zachte bedden, een prachtige tuin en een verwarmd zwembad. Er was niks te wensen over en ook volgend jaar zullen ze ons daar weer terug zien. Voor in de avond zijn er op 5-10 autominuten afstand diverse restaurants in de omgeving en ook ter plaatse is er eens per week een culinaire verassing te boeken met bijbehorende wijnen. Al met al een paradijsje onder de Spaanse zon.

And again we stayed at the lovely Cortijo El Sarmiento. We love the location, we love the hosts, we love the tranquility. Once or twice a week a fine dining is offered. These dinings ar worth coming back for each year. You don't have to leave the Cortijo for an enjoyable vacation. But if you want: the environment offers you great places: a lovely (Mojacar) village, nice beaches and nice walks in the mountains. We will be back!
