First impression, presently surprised, but on closer inspection there is a small 'Snagging list', that I don't really want to dwell on, but if these things weren't there this hotel would be pretty perfect. The hotel is clean, I'm mean 'Disney clean' the cleaning staff are amazing and vast! And everything is spotless. The hotel has some really nice touches, such as complementary drinks in the mini bar when you arrive, and a drinks packages to fill the bar are reasonsibly priced. Free WiFi which is pretty good. Room size is good, as is the balcony with amazing outlook over the pool and sea beyond. Bathroom actually has a bath in it. There are plenty of spare pillows, blankets and duvets in the wardrobe should you need them. The night time entertainment is top notch, we had a evening of traditional Spanish live music, and it was very good. Food is buffet style, but there is so much choice and it is not the same old thing every day. On a whole the food is very well done and tasty. Now for some of the negatives: The room. Wardrobe, 12 hangers, no full length hanging space, one side for shirts, the other maybe socks? Not one drawer to put anything in. Aircon in October was pitiful. The decor is dated, faded and mouldy in parts. See photos. I know we don't go on holiday to watch TV, but if you did, it's the size of a computer monitor and way too small for the size of the room. No English channels. Information in the room was a bad photocopied, photocopy and was unreadable. The live entertainment by the pool is very loud, and although not a problem for us, if you have small children/babies, even with the balcony door shut it's very loud in the room and I would recommend a room without a sea view might be quieter. Also be warned it went on until after midnight, every night . Also didn't see anything anywhere about what the entertainment would be each day/night if any, it was just a surprise to us, as all interaction by staff on the PA again only in Spanish. Staff The reception staff, although not rude, are clearly not bothered, no smiles, no good morning, no pleasantries. Restaurant staff make more of an effort, but be warned that most don't speak English, so you'll need to speak a little Spanish to order the correct drink for example. Location, pretty remote. In Google maps I found two resturants/beach bars with in easy reach, both were closed. There are some further towards Mojacar, but it's a good 20min walk. Walking to town the other way, Garrucha is 30min depending on your age abilities, but positives are it's pretty, you can either walk along the gardens or the beach. And bonus for older unfit types, it's all on the flat. We did find a bus to Mojacar old town L2 bus 1.20 Euros from taxi rank, out of the hotel front entrance, turn left, turn right. The old town is extremely pretty and well worth a visit.
