In the last 10 days I have had breakfast twice at Lough Rynn, and dinner once. The dinner was a birthday celebration for myself and a friend who shares the same birthday. Our first breakfast was simply superb, with wonderful food and service. Our second visit was yesterday (22nd Feb) for a double birthday celebration. We had a private dining room with a lake view. The food was wonderful. We ordered a special cake, and it was perfect. The service was (as usual) excellent. We went back the following morning for another wonderful and perfect breakfast. (Luckily we live near this wonderful place). A very special "shout out" to Tracy, the restaurant manager. A true professional and a genuine superstar of the hospitality industry. Thank you to everyone who makes this beautiful place so wonderful.

We spent three days in this wonderful hotel recently and I would recommend it highly. It is a small hotel situated in a lovely lakeside setting with beautiful gardens and a great atmosphere. The food was excellent. It is one of the few remaining hotels in my experience that provides a completely served breakfast, making it a real treat. Combine that with an exceptional fine dining experience in the evening and you have a winning combination. The staff are so welcoming and helpful and made our stay so memorable. We will certainly be back and are happy to recommend it to anyone.

We booked a few weeks previously and managed to book the weekend of the worst storm in 80 years. I phoned ahead and was told that all was open and even given some safety advice by reception due to a lot of fallen trees on the estate. We stayed 1 night with evening meal , a few drinks in the bar, and a lovely morning walk after breakfast. The venue is amazing & spotless, the food is first class, but 5 stars belong to the staff. Considering the terrible weather, the staff managed to get to work, and absolutely everyone we dealt with were very welcoming, polite, friendly, and totally professional.

Jan 2025, we celebrated a special birthday at Lough Rynn Castle. A marvellous experience overall. Welcoming, relaxed atmosphere, friendly, attentive staff. We enjoyed open fires, walks in the walled garden and wonderful food. Our room was spacious with a beautiful view towards the lake, the bed was very comfortable. The highlight was the chef dinner, which included organic veg and produce from the gardens. We opted for beef and duck for the main course, the meal was world class. Shout out to head chef Clare O Leary and her team. Thank you to Tadgh, Florina and all the team. We’ll be back! Connaughton, Galway

Just back from a three day stay from Lough Ryan Castle. It was cold!!! Ireland is in the midst of a snow and ice episode, so driving to and from the castle was very challenging. Our stay however, was anything but challenging. We have stayed here many times over the years and are always delighted at the level of confidence and professionalism we experience from all of the staff and management. Meghan and AJ looked after us for dinner but all of the dining staff, for breakfast and dinner were a pleasure to meet. Great service combined with the most innovative and delicious food… this is fine dining at its best! ( try the Duck, although the Beef and Chicken are amazing also!). We only had three nights so could not try more menu options!!). The Salmon starter and Mushroom soup was were our ultimate favourites but the Terrine and Cod were also wonderful . We opted for a suite as it was a very special occasion. The room was beautiful (even better than the website photos). Upgrading is worth every cent. The public sitting areas are very comfortable and allow privacy yet the staff pop by to see if you need anything (order a pot of tea or coffee and see if there are any of the home made biscuits still left…..they are delicious!). The grounds surrounding the castle are immaculately tended. The outside staff have created a lovely environment for walking. The walks around the lake are accessible and feel perfectly in tune with the natural surrounds (not overly manicured). They have some of the tallest trees I have ever seen, anywhere! The walled gardens are perfection, the statues and fountains are very well maintained. We have attended a wedding here and it was wonderful. Since then we have had several two/three night stays, mainly early or late in the year. This is a beautifully located, fine dining experience that is tended to by staff who know their trade and are very very good at hospitality. All of this is overseen by a management team who take pride in their venue and the high level of service that Lough Rynn Castle offers. They are correct in their pride. It’s a must stay!!!

We had to go to a family wedding at Lough Rynn . We had a fabulous time the food was amazing and the staff were brilliant. Our room was very spacious and very comfortable. The following morning we had breakfast which was delicious. I run a small B&B so I would be very critical but honestly I was delighted my husband too loved breakfast and my daughter said pancakes were delicious. Thank you so much. Linda

This is my first review I’ve ever written in all my years of travelling and staying in some of the loveliest hotels in the world but I feel I need to share our experience. We were really looking forward to the whole experience but the staff and service made sure this was not to be. We brought our 2 young kids as it was a family occasion so when booking the hotel we requested a family room in the hotel so the kids could go back to the room whenever they liked within the safety of the premises, however, when we arrived we we told we were in a room in a separate building 300 metres away from the main building which totally ruined the day for us as we had to try and deal with the hotel staff as to see why we were put out there with no satisfaction. The room was very basic with single glazed windows that were letting in drafts. Really not a room you would expect for a castle experience, more like a holiday inn. The service was dreadful apart from one or two of the younger staff which really indicates that the management is the problem. The bar staff at the event itself were very poor and rude, smashing bottles and just disappearing. At breakfast the hotel couldn’t facilitate for all at the breakfast serving and we had to be served in the library which we did not have an issue with but the morning manager made us feel like it was our fault that they didn’t have the space and was very rude to us and others. To conclude, if you are booking a family occasion please think twice and shop around.

I Attended Lough Rynn this afternoon with my partner Laura for a festive afternoon tea something special for us to do over Christmas . We've visited the estate numerous time's over the past 5/6 year's for staying overnight multiple times we've made the castle our treat day or night away . Each visit was always as good or better then the last l have in the past both commended and congratulated the staff and the location as a whole on the level of service provided it was this that always brought us back time after time. However today's experience left a lot to be desired. We seated at 1.10 the member of staff told us they'd be right back with menu's for us to look over however after 40 minutes passed I had to ask if we were going to be served where we were seated or if we were waiting for another area to open up . This young member of staff was more than surprised that we had been waiting so long and in his defence he did his best to apologise for the situation but by that point our enthusiasm for the occasion had been replaced by frustration and disappointment. Unfortunately the disappointment didn't end there when our afternoon tea was served the small Brie and red onion jam tarts were cold in the middle and the pasty was soft like they had been reheated in a microwave rather than an oven. Then when we asked for more tea the pot was brought away and just refilled with water and obviously not fresh tea as it was so weak it was basically coloured water. Yes we were given a complimentary drink and the young member of staff was very apologetic but ultimately it's unlikely we will return to the location again anytime soon. Our last visit was earlier this year when we stayed for 2 nights had dinner and enjoyed wonderful service that would be difficult to rival. Today's experience was so incredibly different poor service staff standing in doorways on phones laughing and joking loudly not something we've become used to at Lough Rynn. Also to add our poor experience was not an isolated one the table next to us which had 6 people who were also having afternoon tea were served only 2 of their 3 towers and 2 plates of sandwiches. A gentleman at that table also had to approach a member of staff to ask when the remainder of their order would be served her response was and I quote Oh I forgot. The standards of service have fallen at this once fantastic location ultimately left really disappointed by the experience €70 not well spent.
