Aux 4 Saules de 4 Wilgen

This was a truly exceptional stay. Our stay at "Aux 4 Saules de 4 Wilgen" was intended to be the much needed blissful "unwinding" between two other, much more intense parts of our family vacation. We got exactly what we hoped for and more. Anke and Ed are wonderful hosts, very accommodating and always ready to advise about what to see, where to eat etc in the area. We felt truly welcome! "Aux 4 Saules de 4 Wilgen" is a terrific place. Originally a beguinage, Ed and Anke have lovingly converted it into a blissful bed and breakfast, and a great hobby farm. They put a lot of effort into retaining the original charm, while going seriously green and planet-friendly at the same time. The hobby farm has a whole bunch of animals, including horses (beautiful pure-breed Belgians!), a cow, dogs, cats etc. A true paradise for kids. Our 7 and 9 year olds really enjoyed walking the horses to and from their pasture, refilling their water barrels, grooming them… and even riding them! Ed, thanks for these memorable moments! Anke’s breakfasts were delicious, well worth the charge. I particularly enjoyed her omelettes! "Aux 4 Saules de 4 Wilgen" has my full endorsement, especially for families with kids!

I traveled with 2 friends to the area to explore rock climbing craigs. The B&B of Anke and Eddy was a wonderful place to go back to after a full day spent on the rocks. It's situated on an old farm that the owners bought in 2009, restored themselves and turned it into their home and B&B. (there is a photo album of the process). The rooms are spacious, clean and tastefully/rustic decorated. The common area has super comfortable couches, loads of board/card games, books, a full kitchen with a magical self serving fridge that is always stocked with enough beer, wine, water, and soft drinks. There is also a self serving cabinet with snacks. In the morning we were welcomed to breakfast with freshly homemade bread, butter, steamy coffee, local jams, croissants and freshly cooked barn eggs. Eddy and Anke were super friendly, helpful (they made us lunch boxes for us to take to the craigs), generous and open. We are definitely going back. I am going to take my kids as well.
