Best Sazerac EVER!!! Idyllic spot in historic downtown Mobile for a wedding. Bistro St. Emmanuel bar tender, Chelsea, makes a kick ass, wonderful Sazerac!! One of the most chill bars I’ve ever visited from Kalk Bay to Thailand to Calgary! To top it off, the local Kolsch, Cheap Sunglasses, brewed in Fairhope is also spectacular. Most importantly, the bar is in an old General Store and nobody knows where this door goes?!!

If you had asked me to rate Fort Conde Inn at the end of our wedding, this would have been a five-star review. If you asked me the day after, it would have been 3, and 2 days after that, it became a 1. The general staff there is very friendly and eager to help. The Wedding itself was great. The venue is beautiful, and the food is very good. To keep this as short as possible I won’t go over every tiny issue, since they all come back to one thing. They will promise you pretty much anything in reason and repeat eagerly that they “can take care of it,” and to “leave it to them.” Unfortunately, because of what seems like poor communication between the staff, and perhaps a bit of over-promising, inevitably things will slip through the cracks and won’t get done (For us it was the repeated assurances that they would pack up our leftovers... the food is good, but you definitely pay for it). At first, we got general apologies from the staff that was working when we found out they had “thrown out,” (or in my many years of experience in the food industry; boxed up and took home) our leftovers. But, since neither of the two women that planned this wedding with us from the beginning (the General Manager and Wedding Co-Ordinator), and who had actually been the ones that made these promises repeatedly were there, we got no REAL apology. We emailed David, the Owner, to let him know what happened and how we felt. And in response, we got NO apology, just an email calling us liars and accusing US of taking advantage of THEM and THEIR GENEROSITY. I sh!t you not. You spend 10’s of Thousands of Dollars to be told that you shouldn’t complain about what they DIDN’T do, because everything else they promised was them being generous, so you should basically SIT DOWN and EAT IT, if you have a legitimate complaint. In the end, I wouldn’t tell you to not get married here. The wedding itself was great, but I would say GET EVERYTHING you agree on, and I mean EVERYTHING in writing, SO, when that inevitable thing doesn’t get taken care of, YOU don’t have to sit there and read an email from the Owner calling YOU a LIAR with $20,000 of YOUR money in HIS pocket. PS (There is a ‘discount’ you get for guaranteeing to book out 25 of their overpriced rooms. That discount gets paid back pretty quickly when you find out they charge that same amount to turn the string lights above the street on at night. You know... the lights that you’ll 100% NEED if you want your wedding guests to be able to see during the OUTSIDE RECEPTION.) Venue: 5 / Staff: 4 / Owner: 100% Slimeball

A spectacular stay in every way! All the employees were friendly, welcoming and very helpful. We moved an event at the last minute from another venue in town to the Fort Conde Inn and everything was executed perfectly! We stayed in the Blakely Cottage which was perfect for our party of five. In the South in the summer, the main criteria for a stay is cleanliness, AC and comfortable beds. The event space and the cottage were sparkling clean. The beds were extremely comfortable and the AC rocked. It was extremely hot in Mobile while we were there and the AC system had no issues handling 72 degrees. Melissa and Taylor made sure our event went smoothly and I don't see how the menu could have been prepared any better. It was a complicated service but was flawless. Our guests loved the menu and we all had a great time. We ate breakfast in the Bistro and it was yummy and served by friendly wait staff, despite one particular morning when more family from town joined us and we were particularly boisterous. The Inn is set in a small village setting with a museum just around the corner and right in the downtown area but somehow still manages to feel set apart from the bustle of downtown Mobile. I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend!

This was an amazing place to stay. We absolutely loved the "margaret" room. The clawfoot tub was so relaxing and the room was clean and well decorated. The bed was so comfy. We enjoyed breakfast at The Bistro on the property. Everything was just perfect. We will definitely visit again.

The fun part of travel is the unexpected experience; the unplanned events that happen by chance. Our stay at the Fort Conde Inn was one of those. We arrived with no expectations other than what we hoped would be a successful stay at an unusual hotel. When we departed we both felt that we got much more out of our visit than just an overnight lodging. At check-in the receptionist gave us information about the hotel and personally showed us to our comfortably large room, number 10, which was spotlessly clean. This hotel consists of a cluster of homes located in a very small, easily walkable neighborhood near the Colonial Fort Condé. Our room was in a home across the street from the reception. The lovely hotel restaurant where we we ate breakfast was less than a block. From the hotel, we could easily walk to the historic Mobile business district and its shops and restaurants. We would rate this hotel as a five plus.

My husband and I wanted so badly to enjoy this historical hotel. The main building is beautiful and unfortunately that’s not where our room was. There are several adjacent buildings that house guests as well as the main house. We were in an adjacent building with no elevator, on the third floor. We were assured that even though there were no elevators, we had great views since we were up on the top floor. We had a great view of the side of another building and an alley way. And I checked out all windows, of which there were two. The room was incredibly sparse; one piece of artwork on one wall, no floor rug on an all hardwood floor which only made the room feel more cold. The mini split in the room kept running and froze us out. There was no counter space in the bathroom. The only furniture in the bedroom was the bed, two small night tables, and a dresser that the T.V. sat on, leaving very little space to put belongings. On top of all that, a train ran right by the building blowing its horn at all hours of the night! We were awakened by it several times. Parking isn on the street, which made my husband a little nervous, but we had no trouble. We checked out as soon as the sun came up. The worse stay of our lives! We will not be staying there again. I can’t speak for any of the other rooms or buildings and I don’t know what ours was called, but the term “Boutique Hotel” for this one is a very loose term.

My daughter and her bridal party stayed in a two story suite the night before her wedding. The room was beautiful and exactly what her father and I wanted for them. The room is not the issue. Upon checking in, there was absolutely no acknowledgment of her upcoming wedding. No “congratulations”, nothing. We specifically included what the occasion was for. The morning of her wedding I was collecting all the washcloths and towels and putting them in one pile. I noticed that one washcloth had an extreme amount of makeup on it. I hated it, but it happened. I’m not the type person to throw it away or take it. I simply put it with the others. A few days later I noticed TWO $27.50 charges on my card. I called and the young lady told me that I had been charged because the makeup wouldn’t come out of the “facial cloth”! I could not seriously believe I had been charged almost $30 for a single washcloth!!! I pointed out it was only one because I saw it. She put me on hold and came back to apologize for the error in charging me twice and refunded me one charge. I emailed the management my disappointment in the pettiness of being charged $27.50 for a single washcloth but the carelessness of being charged twice. I’ve never received a reply. Im just disappointed in such a beautiful place that cost over $400 a night being so rude over something so small. From check in to follow up of this matter I’ve felt my business didn’t mean very much to them.

Beautifully restored historic houses, nice big rooms and a great restaurant with friendly staff and excellent service. The negatives are it’s right by the Interstate and there’s a lot of traffic noise and, even worse in my view, is the “artificially flavoured” coffee capsules in the bedrooms. Undrinkable. The coffee in the restaurant was great so why put this terrible stuff in the rooms? So easy to remedy.
