We loved our stay at Castaways resort at Mission Beach. The room was a beachfront room with beautiful views. It was spacious, comfortable and clean. We booked through Trip.com at short notice but they made it easy to book.

I’ve always liked this place the food is good, and most of the staff are friendly and hardworking. However, my recent experience with the manager completely changed how I feel about coming here. His rude and dismissive attitude made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome, even though I’ve been a loyal customer. It’s really disappointing to see someone in a leadership role treat people so poorly. I hope management takes this seriously, because the rest of the team deserves better and so do the customers.

Lovely location. Beware though Mission beach little Village is totally a construction site. Shops are open but it is not pleasant to walk around...and tricky. This resort is in need of a facelift and now a chain resort in new hands. Ask before booking as they already have renovations started so could get noisy and not relaxing. Be much nicer when completed we felt. So also we felt too expensive really for what it is ATM.

The place needs a complete makeover. Rooms are clean but tired with leaky taps and shabby inclusions. The food was poor and we only ate at the restaurant once over our 4 night stay. Great location and hope the new owners address the shortcomings.

CLUB WYNDHAM is part of a Club, where the Public is Welcome to stay, that owns Resorts World Wide and this Resort will be just one of Hundreds. We have stayed here for 2 weeks at a time for the last 3 years and still rate this venue, view of beach and surrounds as our favorite in Australia, the Mission Beach has been rated as second best beach in all of Queensland in the past. This venue is in need of of a refurbishment and Club Wyndham will now complete this, although we have noticed in our 3 stays that things could be better, here in Australia this is still our favorite resort. I have traveled for over 2 whole years in my life on holiday, including in total 7 months in South America.

As locals we have been coming to castaways for years and persisted with the off/on inconsistency of both food and service .. it seems to have really hit rock bottom .. the supervisor manager for the evening Dennis -has no idea about Customer service and quite rude , staff are not wanting to help or attend . We were not informed what about meals not available only to keep running through the menu to finally decided .. there really isn’t much of a choice .. vegies and mash were a disgrace for the $53 for a steak & $70 bottle of sav Blanc to have to go up to the bar to order .. highly give this a miss . The ambience of the beachfront is the only wild card drawing in .. hopefully with new ownership things might change 🙏

DO NOT RECOMMEND: After seeing all over social media they were opened over the Easter break I decided to book in for lunch for my birthday. Made a BOOKING online and received a confirmation back. On the day turned up for our booking to find out the restaurant is closed for the entire Easter break. However, quick check on socials to confirm that a post just 2 hrs ago confirming THEY ARE OPEN. We are now left with no where to go for my birthday. However, as a local I am not surprised. This is not the first time Castaways restaurant have let us down. That it. I have tried several times to let you win my local heart, but after all the let down you can forget it. I will be sharing my experience with everyone I know. Good luck.
