This special boutique hotel is in a lovely and quiet location overlooking the famous Douro River and downtown Porto. Torel Avantgarde is not a big hotel therefore there is an intimate atmosphere that we liked a lot. The personal approach of the professional staff makes you feel at home and important all the time. Our Executive Superior room (no. 0 named Simone de Beauvoir) was very comfortable, and we slept really well due to our room facing a closed courtyard. The room was super clean, the decoration is unique, as every room is inspired by a different artist (see my attached photos). Housekeeping is also on point with making sure the rooms are refreshed perfectly every day. Breakfast is delicious, with a very large assortment of breads, pastries, fruits, yogurts and a very efficiently run eggs and omelette station! From the breakfast room there is a beautiful sunny view over the town and Douro River – can’t be a better start on your day! The restaurant onsite (Digby) was great. Our waiter the last evening, Mrs. Ines, did an excellent job! The SPA was not very luxury, but the service itself (85 min relaxing couple massages) was very impressive and relaxing - above what I expected! – and nothing can beat the infinity pool overlooking the river! The true reason why Torel Avantgarde is a top rated 5-star hotel is the beautiful people that works there - they made us feel so welcome and comfortable all the time. Keep on with this high service level (I know it´s really hard work!) and you will become the highest rated hotel in Porto. There was a little misunderstanding at arrival, but the management fix it at once on an excellent way! We would definitely choose this hotel again on our next visit to Porto. If you are looking for a beautiful hotel with views of the river you are in for a real treat. The staff is incredible. They helped with activity and dinning suggestions and reservations. The hotel interior design is stunning. The food at the hotel restaurant is excellent and bar offers craft cocktails. The location was not far from the excitement of Porto.

We stayed for five nights. All the staff are very helpful and professional. The room was a little smaller than we expected. The public areas and pool are quite small but very nice and beautiful decorated. Only 10 poolside sunbeds that cannot be adjusted to sit upright is unusual. €30 per night car parking is top money. The hotel is situated 10 minutes walk from the centre, 30 from the old town, and in a slightly scruffy, sometimes busy road. Food, breakfast and dinner very nice but it’s limited seating in the best areas . Is it 5 star, I’d say 4.5 when compared to other 5 star in the area.

Beautiful hotel!! Staff are so nice and the space is absolutely beautiful with a breathtaking view of the city!! The rooms are so beautiful and food is 10/10 Their breakfast offers a variety of options with the view of the river to enjoy. I would 100% come back

Highly recommend Torel Avantgarde. Had a great stay here for a few days while exploring Porto. Really unique and special boutique hotel with exceptional decor. The property's setting and views are phenomenal. The outdoor pool/bar area is fantastic and the indoor bar and lounge spaces are also great. We had a river view room, which was worth the upgrade. Had dinner at the restaurant one night and, in addition to the amazing views out on the balcony, the food was excellent--the best we had over our 7 day trip throughout Portugal. Breakfast buffet was also very good, with an extensive selection. Staff was super helpful and friendly. Location is very good and a short walk to the various neighborhoods and attractions you'll want to visit. Just all around a great experience.
