Modern Stay 39 Lakeview by OYO Minonk Garden

Nice looking on the outside, smelled like a foot that hadn't been washed in a month and I'm a former submarine rider so i know. No coffee at the coffee pot or snacks in the vending machine. People had box fans in their windows because they had no control over their individual ac units and some were pumping out heat. Temp in our room was set for 64 but never got below 74 even at night. Staff wasn't there for our check-in and the guy who checked myself and another person was sitting outside while we were waiting at the desk then went right back outside after just taking my keycard and did not actively process me out. Had to call the next day to verify i was actually checked out but it took several hours because no one answered the phone, even took ******* 2 days to get in touch with them to verify a partial refund for early check out which the hotel refused even though it was covered by their policy.

Room was very old, shower curtain has mildew. Could not wait to leave, not a good feeling.

The non-smoking room smelled like somebody had just finished a carton of cigarettes. I slept with the window open all night.

I know this was a budget hotel and you get what you pay for but there was hair on sink tops and in tub. Beds were poor with very poor pillows and sheets. This was the middle of December and the only thing on the beds were crappy sheets and thin coverlet. When I asked about extra blankets, the manager was accomodating, but all they had were what looked like twin sized mattress pads that looked like felt packing blankets. Will not stay there again. This hotel is not modern at all.

Very kind owner, willing to listen to feedback for improvements. really like the triangular shower tub and bathroom design, gives more elbow room, BUT the door needs to be changed. When bathroom door is swung in, it blocks access to over half of the tub. I suggest a folding closet door type , or a door that disappears into the wall. Also the refigerator had no control. It did freeze bottles in the freezer compartment , which is good. BUTI it froze other things on the shelves. Microwave needs an upgrade. one stairwell was too hot. Elevator was broken. Only given one set of towels, and they were not refreshed for my 2nd day. nice and quiet, felt safe. No breakfast, but did have coffee. reasonable price, and so easy to find by I-39

Sketchy at best Out of order elevator, used/opened toiletries (soap) and questionably clean (possibly used?) towels. Hole in corner of mattress (possible drug hiding spot???) Just bought by another company according to desk clerk so maybe will improve under new ownership.
