We visited Awajishima Umemaru Ryokan with a family of 7, including 5 adults and 1 5-year-old and 1 3-year-old. It's an old memory, but we decided to stay at this ryokan again based on the memory of seeing the Naruto Bridge in front of us, having a great view, and the good food. We stayed in room 401 in the annex for one night and had the red snapper and spiny lobster course for dinner. The red snapper main dish for dinner was too small for 5 adults to eat, and there was only a little bit of sashimi. Half of the red snapper was served with turban shell and Horakuyaki, but the liver of the turban shell was sandy and gritty and inedible. There were only 2 small spiny lobsters, and the seasoning of the boiled red snapper heads was only sweet, and the ingredients themselves were not fresh, so there was nothing that could be said to be delicious. The accommodation fee was 33,000 yen including tax for one adult and 26,000 yen for two children, totaling about 190,000 yen. We used a 100,000 yen hometown tax coupon to pay the difference locally. I thought I would be able to enjoy the seafood to my heart's content, but I was shocked that it didn't live up to my expectations. I drove three hours to get there, but it was a place I don't think I'll ever visit again.
