Plantation Oaks

I checked in to room 519. The heater was broken. Went back to get a different room across hall 518. Heater works. Got back at about midnight. Put pizza bread in microwave set for 1 minute. The timer was broken didn’t shut off. Got in shower for a few minutes. Smelled smoke. Got out and found the entire room severely smoked. Smoke detector didn’t work. Shut it off opened the door and smoked the whole hall. Hall detector went off. Fire department came. Air the place out. If I would’ve fallen asleep I could have been killed by smoke inhalation. To top it off the owner charged me an extra 250. For their defective microwave and smoke detector.

I was in Memphis overnight to pick up a horse the following morning. I could not find a room in six area hotels and finally found a room here. After booking I read very poor reviews and was concerned. On arrival I asked to inspect the room prior to check in. I was immediately taken to my room. It was spotless and very clean. The front desk clerk was very friendly and efficient. I could not recommend this motel more. And at $80 total for my stay I was shocked.

Room clean, bed comfortable, area quiet and dark. Room needs updating. When first opened door to room, saw bench with some nasty stains. Clock radio cracked. Hair dryer did not work; TV old, not a clear picture- even with cable, no volume on local stations. Very difficult to communicate with night clerk due to his accent. Even with minor infractions, we would still stay here again.

I booked a non-smoking room with two queen beds. I am giving this hotel a 2 only because they changed my room when I expressed my dissatisfaction with the room I was assigned. Room 607 was dirty, smelled like cigarette smoke, and there was mold in the bathroom. The bathroom vanity was old and dirty. The room I was moved too was better but not great. They had a flat sheet with a grouse old blanket and another flat sheet over that. No comforter at all and it went down to 35 during our stay. The breakfast was ok.

I made a reservation over the phone by calling a number on the Plantation Oaks website. The man who answered spoke with such a heavy accent I had to ask him to repeat several times. I shared we were traveling with a pet for the first time and ask about their policy. He told me they accepted pets, and when I asked about additional fees he told me the pet fee was "waived". When we arrived to check in, we were told that we owed an additional charge, that the company I called was not anyone the clerk recognized as their agent, yet he had our reservation. He printed and showed us a receipt for someone in Texas (we're from the midwest) and when I pointed out that the name and address was incorrect, he refused to give us a receipt. We've stayed at many independent motels, and this is the worst I've been to, and the clerk was rude and contradictory about their policies / procedures. The marketing states this is a "pet friendly" motel, but what they don't share is that a pet friendly room has cold, bare floors in a building separate from the main motel and the doors open directly to the outside...not safe. The furnishings were shabby, the control panel for the heat / air was so scratched that the settings were illegible. The room smelled terrible. The last straw was when we saw a couple of bugs crawling up the wall. We packed up and went to the Hampton, even though we had to pay for a night's stay again. It was so worth it!

We loved the place, staff was most friendly. Room Were very clean .I real enjoyed myself there. Breakfast in the morning. Quit Comfortable. I f I come my there again most definitely will stay there again.

If you like DISGUSTING rooms and RUDE employees then this is the place for you. Otherwise stay far away. We checked in and checked out within 10 minutes. Mold on the walls and ceiling. Stained furniture and mismatched ancient bedding finish off the room. Plenty of unsavory characters loitering around the building to make you feel safe and comfortable as well.

We got last room available on a busy baseball weekend. It happened to be a 2BR suite. Not in good repair alt all. Furniture worn out and stained. Pillows horrible and uncomfortable bed. Last but not least, the hair dryer didn’t work. This is not something you want your wife to experience. Called front desk and no help. I even slaked if we could get one from another room. No help. Not even nice about it.

The room and hotel itself were fine, but the actual room service and customer service at the front desk was horrible. We were there for 8 days and never got any type of room service. They told me they come on Mondays and Thursdays but we never seen them on either of those days. The gentleman at the front desk didn’t seem to care at all. The lady who works evenings was the only person who seemed to show any interest in correcting our problem. 8 days and not one day of housecleaning….definitely not satisfied. After complaining for several days they did nothing so I’m probably going to dispute at least two days of charges with my credit card. All they had to do was apologize if nothing else but they couldn’t
