Great experience- perfect family suite for our family of 4. Really nice extra touches from the staff. Great kids club that helps mum and dad get some spa time - I would definitely recommend this resort to anyone. It’s on a golf course with no sea view as the only down side (unless you are there for golf!)

Overall the stay at La Zambra made for a magical Christmas. The experience provided by the staff truly highlighted the luxury status. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, and maintained twice daily by housekeeping. The staff around the hotel are friendly and helpful, and the concierge, particularly when communicating through WhatsApp, is extremely knowledgeable with recommendations as well as convenient with booking time in the spa, yoga classes, golf or ordering taxis into town. The biggest negative is that the pools are not heated. It was 18C and beautifully sunny but the pools felt like an ice plunge. The spa pool was slightly warmer by way of being inside but still not worth a dip. The hot tub was warm, but even that could’ve been hotter. Aside from that the spa was beautiful and well maintained, with waterfall pools, sauna and steam room. The cocktails at Bamboleo were delightful and the food at Picador was exquisite. The breakfast at Palmito was pretty good considering the European audience. The resort itself had amazing views but was also located about 15 minutes from local village of Mijas which had stunning views and great local shops and restaurants. 15 minutes towards the sea was another little town Fuengirola, which was a bit more touristy but still worth a quick trip. Malaga was about 35-45 minutes away by car, so pricey in a taxi, but worth it if you want to have a proper tourist experience of seeing the history of Malaga, their more popular promenade, with boat tours and cocktail bars as well as quite a few Michelin restaurants. Would definitely recommend

Having a villa on Mijas Golf for 27 years and seeing the transformation of The Byblos to La Zambra I decided to treat my husband to a two night break over Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. A Garden view suite overlooking the car park was the start of a disappointing visit. Having enjoyed many sundowners on the outdoor terrace I presumed that we were in the garden but unfortunately not…. The room was very chilly as were all the public corridors which led to the reception, bar and restaurant. Dinner on Christmas Eve which we had to pre-pay in advance was very enjoyable and everyone went to bed happy. That’s where the problems started for us… there was a fan or some description which seemed to be in the toilet which we couldn’t turn off so we couldn’t sleep due to the noise. The shower was incredibly difficult to work out and was cold then scalding hot. I decided to have a bath instead but sliced my big toe open on the bath surround! Blood everywhere…. My husband told receptionist that we had a problem with a fan and they advised an engineer would come to help us, two hours later no one had arrived so we decided to leave and go home. A sad end to Christmas Day but the receptionist handled our departure very well and refunded us the 2nd nights accommodation. We really wish La Zambra a lot of success as having a 5 star hotel nearby is fantastic. More attention to detail and better training might improve things. We will definitely go back to eat and drink but probably won’t stay there again.
