I have been loving Riboville dearly for many years, the setting, the view, the vibe, the mixture of patrons, the staff, the food, and the live music on weekends. That has made me a regular. Lately it has lost much of its appeal - unfortunately: Staff is not to be seen for too long periods. And that is certainly not because they are too few. If you need something, you walk over to look for help. The kitchen is often unacceptably slow, even for simpler dishes. My last steak was clearly of inferior quality plus some ingredients of the dish I ordered were outright missing. Was the chef in love? And in turn, they have drastically hiked up prices, especially the ticket for wine has increased beyond what should be acceptable. Too bad.

Shocking if you looking for a pretty surrounding but slop on a plate and a horrific spa experience then this is your place chose this horror for a birthday celebration literally wished I’d booked literally anywhere else a mielie on the side of the road with a pat on the back would beat hands down this place never again

I have been to the hotel a few times lately and have had good service and good food. My best experience though was on a warm spring Sunday afternoon when there is jazz music outside. I did find that the staff was a bit overwhelmed with big numbers though, with the service getting much slower.

Staff are very attentive and welcoming.
Rooms are spotless and well appointed.
Great restaurant and delicious food.
We would stay at Riboville whenever we visit Johannesburg.

The restaurant was awful. Had to look for a waiter to take our order. The order took ages to arrive and was then incorrect. What arrived was not what was offered on the menu. Requested no dressing. Dressing was on the rice. Chilli mayonnaise on sushi….Expensive to boot.

Beautiful building and site. Staff was very laid back and not attentive and the restaurant service was very very slow and the server lack knowledge about the menu and knew nothing about the 10 page wine list. The food was excellent when it arrived.

The look, setting and ambience is simply stunning as is the interior, artwork, gardens and views. Certainly looks world class. Experience with reception and other staff throughout the stay was really great. When staying in a five star establishment though, the room really has to be the highlight and it wasn't. We got moved because of a minor issue but both rooms are really in need of some TLC. The curtains are coming off the rails, don't close properly. The wood furniture is really dated. Electrical plugs are in silly places and we had two switches which were not functioning. Our coffee machine was leaking water. The door in the one room could not close and had to be latched with an ugly latch. Baths are really small in comparison to a very large and comfy shower. External window frames are buckled and windows struggle to close. In summary, fantastic setting, views and ambience but the rooms need some serious upgrades and ongoing TLC. Staff were great!

Great stay, big room, but the tv was old, not a smart tv and there were no coffee in the room.
The staff could have been friendlier as well. The doors in the area where the rooms are were very load and woke us more than once during the evening.
