Holiday Inn Express Middlesboro

The hotel is well situated on the edge of town. No real places to eat within walking distance, but there are a number of places a shortdrive away. Unfortunately, most are fast food. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Room was clean, bed comfortable, and bathroom clean. Adequate parking. Breakfast had a number of hot and cold items and breakfast staff were always checking to make sure everything was good and whether guests needed anything further. I would definitely stay here again.

Checking was pleasant with friendly staff. The room was nice, pillows were soft, the shower was nice and hot. Overall clean with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was nice with plenty of options hot/cold. The pool was nice, I only wish they had a hot tub.

I have a hard time with pricing. Both Hertz Car Rental and Holiday Inns are more expensive than their counterparts and don't seem to offer much more than comparable establishments. So it is with the Holiday Inn Express in Middlesboro. We only went to the Holiday Inn since we had to cancel a bed and breakfast elsewhere. I guess serves us right that it was expensive. Last show in town syndrome. Well, the Hotel. On their reservations line they said no vacancy. But when we asked in person at the desk, they had three rooms left. We got one. It was nice, but not exceptional. The usual with king bed, bed tables, credenza, small writing desk and chair and a really funky easy chair tucked off in the corner. Breakfast was the usual the usual sausage, bacon, eggs, small pre-made cheese omelet (but with nothing to put on them), B&G (thick and flavorful), cinnamon rolls (on a heated plate), fresh oatmeal, OJ, coffee. It actually was better than most, but still hotel food. Of note was how friendly everyone (I mean everyone on the staff) was. To a person they greeted us and thanked us for staying there. Left a pleasant feeling.

We've stayed at this hotel on previous occasions and it was wonderful. This time and unfortunately, we accidentally booked at a Holiday Inn in Middlesboro, United Kingdom which we figured out on check in (after a full day of travel by car and late in the evening). I'm writing this review to spotlight Deonte who was the front desk agent that evening. He was SO nice and helpful amidst a disappointing discovery for us. He sincerely felt bad for us (even thought this was 100% our fault) and proceeded to assist us in finding other accommodations. They say "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade" which is nice in theory but when something like this happens, it can be challenging ~ Deonte was the catalyst in making that happen for us. He had no clue about the events of our day leading to this moment and his friendly, helpful personality was truly appreciated ~ Thank you so very much! Keep "doing what you do" because you're awesome!!!

Passing through for an overnight stay, we couldn’t have been more pleased choosing this hotel. Across from the Walmart and many restaurants nearby, in a well lit parking lot, we were welcomed in by the friendly front desk staff. Everything was clean and bright. Our king size bed room had plenty of room, and was very comfortable. The bathroom had Dove toiletries and a nice walk in shower. In the morning, I had coffee and oatmeal to go and hit the road again. The morning front desk woman thanked us and wished us well on our travels as we left!

We stayed overnight while on vacation. It's not a bad place and the price is comparable to similar hotels. The breakfast was good and three is a fast food restaurant within walking distance and a Wal-mart across the road.

We enjoyed our stay at this three-story Holiday Inn Express just a few minutes from the Cumberland Gap park. I was pleasantly surprised that the lobby always has fresh popcorn. There is a variety of snacks from their little “store” next to the front desk where a variety of candy, treats and frozen snacks can be purchased. They also have a small selection of complimentary toiletries if you forgot to pack something. My wife found out that it had been completely remodeled in 2018 and it looked like it had just been done. The housekeeping staff was well staffed, efficient and pleasant, as were the front desk personnel. The room was comfortable and quiet. The beds has firm and soft pillows that were encased with pillow cases embroidered with “soft” or “firm”. The bedroom wall opposite the beds had a integrated unit with an armoire, and luggage rack that would accommodate two medium sized suitcases, a chest of drawers and a writing desk. There was an upholstered chair and a footstool in the corner by the farthest bed from the door. There was no unpleasant smell of cleaning products. The tub had a “waterfall” type of spigot. The hallway was also nicely decorated with a large floor number opposite the elevator door to help ensure you get off on the correct floor. Either there were especially quiet guests the night we stayed or the hallway was redecorated with effective sound absorbing materials. They have a nice breakfast area and the complimentary breakfast they provide had a nice variety of offerings. I saw an automated pancake maker that made a pancake in just three minutes, cinnamon buns, cheese omelets, cereal, biscuits and sausage gravy, oatmeal, and a variety of drinks. There is a variety of shopping opportunities just across the street.

My wife and I stayed here during our visit to Cumberland Gap. The hotel was new and clean. The staff was particularly friendly. For example, the clerk at check-in played a "note of welcome" on his harmonica for us. Pretty funny. Great breakfast included.

Excellent place to stay in the Cumberland Gap region. Staff is consistently very friendly. Hotel is clean and the included breakfast is good. Local restaurants and conveniences nearby. The area is beautiful.
