Authentic lodging in a quaint villages. Excellent little restaurant. Access to the Kalnoky Cadtle, now restored. The rooms are small but we'll appointed including a kettle. I stayed as part of a riding trip with the Kalnoky horses. Recommend

Nice place
Awesome place to spend a few days. Nice room. Nice breakfast place. Good.
Hard to close/lock the door to the room, employees lack hospitality experience - completely unprofessional reception/service.
Neighbour with noisy machines and wood cutting tools in the garden kinda ruined the morning mood.
Rather expensive for what they offer.

I was on a riding trip starting and arranged from the Kalnoky estate in june-24. We were 7 riders from different countries in Europe riding for 6 days. The trip was expencive for what you receive. I’ve been on similar trips in my country , Norway , for half the price. Sadly the horses were skinny and tired, some of them with wounds, they had dirty, bad stables and no place to lay down- they were not washed after a day riding and had little to drink during the day. The owner , the countess Anna, was offended and mad when she received our complaints and had no back- up plan if horses were injured during the trip. They charged us for tea, water, welcomesnaps put on the table and transport offered were ridicolusly expencive. When going home everyone had to leave at 6.30 because they had only one car to transport us. Thus we stayed up to 8 hours in the airport before the plane left. Almost impossible with other transport in the area that does not offer taxiservice. Had to pay 70 euros to go from Brasov to Miklosvar, a 40 minutes trip. The estate and area is beautiful with wonderful natureviews, but difficult to experience and sadly dominated by owners only wanting to take money from tourists, with bad service to offer. Warning- check your bill carefully before you leave as some experienced extras put on wrongly!!! Not recommended for animal- loving people!!

June 9th 2024. I have just returned from one of the most exciting and exhilarating experiences on horseback that any rider could dream about. We were guests of the Kalnoky family, and Countess Ana personally is responsible for mounting her guests with the appropriate steed for your weeks ride. Needless to say I was mounted perfectly on a TB/ Akhal Teke cross for what turned out to be many gallops across meadows of wildflowers and enchanting forests of Transylvania, each day showed new vistas of farmlands, cows, goats and sheep grazing and quaint villages in abundance. The food was local and excellent in each place that we stayed 2 nights at the Kalnoky Estates, 2 nights in different hotels in Villages and 2 nights at King Charles Estate which is run beautifully by the Kalnoky's. I cannot say enough about this idyllic part of Eastern Europe, you will not be disappointed even if you are not on horseback! Valerie Nickerson, California, US

We stayed in the Prince Charles guesthouse in November 2018. There are good things about this place, but if you are afraid of dust on the furniture, some cobwebs in the corner, loose bathroom tiles and/or a slightly stained shower curtain, this is not the place for you. I was really looking forward to visiting this remote Romanian village and after reading the reviews knew I could tolerate random electrical or plumbing issues if they arose, but I expect perfection when it comes to cleanliness and tidiness. I'm not sure whether a regular housekeeping schedule exists at the Estate. But, what I do know is that the bed sheets that were drying outside on the line when we arrived were still there when we left three days later. Guest quarters aside, the candlelit dinners by the fireplace in the wine cellar were superb. Both wine and food were excellent. Breakfasts in the main house were good too. And, we loved walking around the bucolic grounds, visiting the farm animals and watching the cows come home from work each afternoon. The daily excursions were fun too but the dinners were definitely the highlight. It has taken me over three years to write about our less than desirable guesthouse because we really enjoyed meeting the people that work here and run the place. I just wish I had read a review like this before I decided to stay at Count Kalnocky's. I wish their group nothing but the best.
