Tru by Hilton Merrillville

Best experience I have had in quite some time. Met Annette, I believe the breakfast room attendant, at breakfast. She asked my name and showed me what all was available. Went back upstairs to finish getting ready for the day and when I rounded the corner from the elevator, she saw me and called me by name with an infectious smile and positivity. While I did not feel like I looked unhappy, she sensed something was up and asked if she could give me a hug. Don't call HR on her because it was meant in the most genuine way to comfort another person. She knew that I needed a little comfort in my day. You see I spent the prior day at Franciscan Hospital down the road for my 82 year old father who was not doing well and I was going back up to see him before flying home. All the staff that I encountered made me feel welcome and inviting. The young man who checked me in late on Sunday night and the desk clerk who checked me out on Monday morning. The hotel was very clean and I felt very safe. The room was spotless and clean. Breakfast was prepared very well with plenty of options. I will certainly stay at the TRU hotel the next time I am in the area and hope to cross paths again with Annette as she is a blessing to be around.

The hotel staff was very nice and helpful. My room was clean along with the hotel. My only complaint was some of my neighbors on my floor. The room doors are extremely heavy. They make a very load noise if you don't close it gently.
