We have come many time to this hotel over the years and as readers we really like its peacefulness. This May, the garden was just beautiful so many flowers I don't even know the names. A true delight! We come here to relax and get away of our noisy cities. Thank you!

This place should be inspected by the Board of Health. The room and furniture were filthy. When my wife used a wet wipe on the table it was black with dirt. The air was foul and reeked like something was dead in the walls. There were two cracked windows. It would have been better to have slept in our car. This is the worst place I have ever stayed.

Older property, we were in a garden view room - no view of garden. Windows were dirty, drapes falling apart. Not enough plugins in the room.
King size bed was comfortable with good pillows. Shower was nice too.

Fabulous Staff, Good Value, but Tired Appearance
This hotel may well be the best value in Mendocino. The bed was comfy and the room had the amenities "advertised." The staff is fabulous, and to their credit, they do the best they can with the hand they are dealt. That said, if you stay here, keep your expectations low. This hotel is in dire need of some maintenance. I was told that a complete overhaul is in the future, but in the interim, it appears that ownership has determined to invest absolutely nothing in providing current guests a modicum of aesthetic pleasure. The wallpaper and paint in my room was peeling badly. There were multiple holes in the walls from previous fasteners (or wall art?) that the hotel made no effort to cover. Overall, this place looks tired on a good day, and when considered with the historic portraits staring down at me from the walls, could feel downright creepy to some.

Old town
Very quant hotel, great antiques. About to be renovated so there are obvious signs of deferred maintenance. No restaurant but code and tea available in lobby. Room was cold at night but they gave complimentary fire logs and room space heaters. Easy walk to very nice restaurants.
We enjoyed our stay.

Could be awesome …..
The hotel sits mostly stagnant while awaiting renovation slated for 9/2024. The restaurant and bar are permanently closed. We were there for 4 days without housekeeping service despite using the hang tag asking for the room to be serviced. It’s a great location and has great potential, but not worth the daily rate in its current condition and operating environment.
