We booked this stay knowing we’d be travelling with a young child, yet were placed in a room directly above reception and next to the lift. Certainly, Sara — here’s the revised paragraph The constant noise throughout the night made sleep near impossible for all of us, turning what should have been a relaxing break into an exhausting ordeal. It also made our planned visit to the nearby caves especially challenging, as we were travelling with a child who has a disability. What should have been a special experience quickly became uncomfortable and unenjoyable, and we ended up leaving by lunchtime. The whole trip felt like a complete waste of money. To make matters worse, breakfast was a let-down. Lukewarm offerings, limited choices, and staff who seemed uninterested left us regretting getting up early for it — not that we slept well anyway. We were assured compensation would be arranged, but after returning your call, there’s been total silence. The lack of follow-through only reinforces how poorly we were treated throughout. Altogether, a thoroughly disappointing experience. We won’t be returning — and I’ll be advising others to look elsewhere.

I stayed as a couple twice recently. Once in the Witches Hat suite, once in a first floor room (with the Juliet balconies). Both times the staff were very helpful and attentive and friendly. The second time, (whether it was an efficient computerised booking system prompt, or human memory I don’t know), but we were remembered. This was a lovely touch and stood apart from the faceless welcome delivered in many places. The Witches Hat suite is circular, quirky, lovely space set across two floors with a circular staircase accessing the first floor open sleeping area with bathroom off it. There is a large smart television on the ground floor. And comfortable sofa, tea & coffee facilities etc. The 1st floor room with the Juliet balcony was generously sized, clean and very comfortable. We stayed during a heatwave and the ability to have the double French windows with the balcony railing immediately outside was a godsend overnight after the intense heat of the day. The only thing that didn’t exceed my expectations was the breakfast. There were a self service continental breakfast or ordered full English breakfast choice. We chose the full English, it was perfectly fine and nothing wrong with it, but it was fine rather than great, whereas the rest of both of our experiences far surpassed what I was expecting for the price point. I would happily recommend it to any traveller considering it.

The he hotel is ok. We had an accessible room. Plenty space. Comfy beds, quiet enough. Bathroom was a little grubby tbh, but it suited us. I’d say it needs to be updated, but it is an accessible room and provides necessary space for someone with access needs. Food in the bar is lovely and the staff couldn’t have been more helpful to us and what we wanted despite being busy elsewhere with a prom on. Can’t have any complaint really. It was what we needed, but have dropped a point for the bathroom as I felt that it was a bit outdated.. i

Visited for three days during term time with wife and 11 year old. Have to say I cannot find fault with any aspect of the stay. It was a perfect location as we were going to Wookey Hole caves the first day (approx 20 metres away), Cheddar gorge on day 2 (8 miles, 20 mins away) and Longleat safari park on day three (24 miles, 45 mins away). It is nestled right in the middle of a very peaceful little village and the views from the room were great when the double doors in the room were opened outwards (see pics). The room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. The staff of the hotel, without exception, were really friendly and accommodating to every request. We wanted a fan for the room, no problem, we wanted an iron and ironing board, no problem. This was a mini break before our main holiday in Cornwall as it was halfway between our home and our final destination but it turned into a fantastic three days rather than just a stopover location. Oh and the beds were amazing.
