Camping & Bungalows Leagi

We stayed in cabin no 1 for 3 nights, the cabin was small for 2 adults and 2 teenagers, the bedrooms and bathroom were fine and fit for purpose but the living area very tight. Probably more suitable with small kids. The place was spotless and had most things you would need for self catering except an egg flip and maybe a kettle, the only socket in the tiny kitchen was behind the hob which if you were using the hob you couldn't have anything plugged in because it would melt on the hob. The bungalow needed upgrading, there was curtain poles up but no curtains on them and the bedding had seen better days,we used a blanket and it had cigarette burns in it. The sofa also feels uncomfortable and the covers shabby now. The camping is very disconnected from the bungalows as they are through a seperate entrance on their own,the veiw of leikitio is cut off dramatically by a hedge which if lowered by 2 feet would give u an magnificent veiw.There is a blind on the bathroom window which was see-through when the light was on. I felt the bungalow was overpriced for the size and quality as we have stayed in others throughout Spain with alot more attention to detail and roomier than this one for the same price. The round table was too big and in the way of entering the bathroom and of the kitchen if someone was cooking a rectangular one would of worked better, it was very stressful cooking in the kitchen as the room was so tight, there is a barbeque outside and more seating and great outside storage for beach gear ect. The restaurant and bar was always busy but only a certain amount of seats on the balcony with a veiw so u need to book it in advance otherwise your in the soulless bar which is bright and noisy with no ambience at all. We didnt eat there but seems popular with locals. The approach to the campsite is a steep winedy hill all the way up and not for nervous drivers. The town of lekeitio is beautiful and go to the beach very early if you expect parking, We didnt camp but the pitches are tight and being August it looked very crowded but it is only 5 minutes drive to town albeit down a very steep road and I'm not sure if it was walkable safely. There are taxis available and I'd advice it rather than looking for parking in town. The pool was basic but was fine for cooling off in the evening. When we were walking to the bar from the bungalows we had to pass the back of a house which was grubby and then all the bins which stunk.the allocated parking for the bungalows 8s beside a hedge with brambles sticking out of it in need of a trim, I got cut twice on them getting out of my car. A little more effort would make this campsite 4 star as its in a prime location for a beautiful town and surrounding areas.

Leagi is a beautifully kept, calm and spacious site. Everything you need for a relaxing stay is on site. There’s a big clean (chilly enough for adults but not my kids!) pool with a lifeguard on duty all day. A little sports area, which my kids adored (with a wall to play against and basket ball area and a few playground bits). There’s a lovely small cafe style bar. We ate in and a big chicken chips and salad was tasty and reasonable. There’s all the amenities you would want, tiny shop, bar/ cafe, lovely clean shower/ toilet blocks x 2 and plenty of space. All in I thought it was so safe and calm and well serviced that it made for a lovely stay. The hill up is a small concern. There’s the main road which we made it up but then there is a very steep 21% incline up the ‘drive’ to access the site. Our 2017 Ducati BARELY made it! We’ve walked up and down to the town. It’s a challenging walk but doable so don’t let that put u off. And once here it’s very chill and there’s little need to leave again. Plus the hilltop views are 👩🏼‍🍳💋 We stayed when the Tour de France passed through the town below. A brilliant experience!

Fabulous campsite. Huge pitches. Excellent facilities. Spotless and clean. Lovely on-site shop and restaurant. Quiet and relaxing with spectacular views. Really well placed for exploring this coastline. Drive up a wee bit steep!!!!!
