The hotel in its self is absolutely beautiful. I feel the advertisement for having its own beach should is very miss leading and should not be advertised as a beach. It just rocks with seaweed on it, a dangerous hazard in all honesty. I stayed in the lodge with my young daughter and the views are absolutely breath taking, however, the windows are very dirty and need a clean. The room is comfortable however very small and extremely noisy. Before I booked this place I enquired if the hotel was family friendly and I was an assured it was, however, I beg to differ. This hotel is awful to get a good nights sleep in, it is the noisiest hotel I’ve ever slept in. I complained to the staff and asked if they could move us to a quieter part of the hotel and I was told no. We’ve got one more night here and sadly I want to go home already. Not worth the money, over priced and miss leading advertisement.

In keeping with the theme of an old hotel, I understood it was going to have period charm. For £297 we expected more than a tiny old and tired room with red hot piping across the ceiling and up the walls. The room was an oven. We had to have the door open most of the time. Whilst the food was nice, it was expensive for what it was. In total we laid out over £500 for one night and dinner with one round of drinks. For that I'd expect a decent room. They supplied a fan but should have moved us. Or at least acknowledged how poor our stay had been. There were very few guests staying. The main measure of a stay is 'would you go back?!

Beautiful hotel and amazing views! We stayed in the lodge, and were offered a choice of two rooms, we chose a slightly smaller room, with a fantastic big window providing a sea view. The food, including breakfast, was very good. The staff were all helpful and friendly, and the hotel and grounds were really impressive. Very much recommended ☺️

Stunning hotel with beautiful views, amazing food and friendly, attentive staff. Perfectly located for exploring the area. Room was big and comfortable. Three different lounge areas to enjoy a pre dinner drink. Good selections for breakfast.

We stayed at Chateau Rhianfa, in the lodge, for one night as a surprise birthday present for my partner. We had a lovely time, made even better by great weather. I picked the lodge as the view from the window in the Pen y Castell room is stunning. I planned a picnic for my partner, so to sit at the table by the window was perfect. There is also a nice area of decking outside the Lodge for guests to use. Later we strolled around the gardens which lead right down to the Menai Straits and had a couple of drinks from the bar. We sat outside listening to some nice music from the banqueting hall, I think there was a wedding meal in there. Then later moved upstairs to sit on the balcony of the morning room with more outstanding views. There were nice rooms to explore, such as the music room where another guest even played a piece on the piano, fair play it was good, so hats off to them. We had a great breakfast the following morning. There was a good choice of cooked food or pastries, fruit, yoghurt etc. In light of some other reviews on here I would like to make some observations. Yes, I could imagine in the lodge it might get noisy if you were in there with inconsiderate guests. We soon realised, yes, our door could slam closed, so after that we were careful with it. We realised that, yes, the walls might not be soundproof so we were careful with any noise such as when we had the TV on for a bit. I don't think the lodge was fully occupied but there were definitely a few other people in there and we weren't disturbed at all and had a great night's sleep in a large and comfy bed. The room was great overall. We weren't disturbed by any noises from water systems either but I guess maybe if someone is running a tap or flushing a toilet at 3am you might be. Again I think being considerate is important. I have stayed in a gaod few other hotels and you can have bad luck if you do happen to be near other guests who are noisy or come crashing down the corridors in the middle of night after too many drinks. All the staff we came into contact with were very friendly and most helpful. The gardens whilst not in pristine condition are still impressive and as the Chateau was built in the 19th century it might be expected to show signs of age! The Chateau is unique and is definitely a sight to behold. An absolutely wonderful stay, thank you to all the staff, we would love to visit again.

Do not waste your money. We were looking forward to returning having had an enjoyable previous stay in 2017. A very disappointing stay. The lovely building is no longer well maintained and the once beautiful and well manicured gardens were overgrown and unkempt. The room, as you would expect is furnished in keeping with the period of the property but again is not well maintained (dirty lampshades, grubby soft furnishings, cracked and sharp floor tiles in the bathroom). Although it said light lunches and room service were available in a e mail I received just prior to arrival, this was not the case for our entire stay. In fact the first day we were not allowed to use any of the 3 lounges as there was a wedding party taking over the entire area. The breakfast was very poor. No choice of milk, the only fruit available being a salad of apple, unripe pineapple and melon. A cooked breakfast of a very cheap tasteless sausage. overcooked bacon, half tomato, beans, the thinnest, smallest slither of black pudding it looked like it had been sliced on a mandolin! An egg and a mushroom sliced up. The cheapest of brown and white bread and croissants. The staff did their best but seemed hassled and overworked. We had booked the restaurant for our second night, it was very average food and had all the ambience of a cheap cafe. All in all a poor experience and certainly did not warrant the £234 nightly charge for a standard room. We did e mail the manager with our concern but haven’t even had the decency of an acknowledgment let alone a reply. We would not recommend and will not be returning .

We had our afternoon tea this week but what a disappointment compared to our visit last year. That was 10/10. No one about to direct us to the correct dining room. We had to knock on the kitchen door! Only us having our tea in the morning room seated on lovely sofas but uncomfortable with the low coffee table. We were expecting the price to have gone up but not expecting to have less food -no small pork pie or small quiche and we had a hard crust wedge of the fruit cake. The pot of tea came soon but by the time we'd started eating it was getting lukewarm. My husband had to look for someone to request another pot. During our tea not one member of the waiting staff checked on us if everything was ok. as one would expect from this kind of establishment. On leaving, again no one about. Lovely hotel and gardens
