Many aspects of the Harboro are very good, and I, and my father before, have been loyal customers for over 50 years. But, I am increasingly angry and fed up with how long it can take to get served at the bar in the afternoon. Regularly, there is no one behind the bar for several long minutes because the management leave just 1 member of staff to manage the bar, check guests in, show people to their rooms and God knows what else! I've seen numerous would be customers leave because they can't get served and, frankly, I'm losing the will to live as I've just been waiting for nearly 10 minutes to get served.

We stayed here as we were visiting the Food Festival. We had stayed before and the landlord remembered us. There is good WiFi. Very. Friendly staff allowed us to early check in and put stuff in their fridge. We had a good laugh with the landlord and waitress at breakfast. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order with cereals and toast if wanted. We were in room 207 which is up two flights of stairs and as the hotel has no lift is not suitable for anyone with mobility problems. We wanted dinner on the Sunday night but they close at 5pm however we were offered plates and cutlery if we wanted to order in a takeaway which we did. The Chinese (I think it was called Mama’s) two doors away is to be recommended.

Bar is very good and if you like Indian food ordered at the bar, delivered direct to your table then the place for you as absolutely delicious. Very friendly place. That said if you are thinking of staying in the Hotel then think carefully. My room smelt damp, had only a high level window onto the corridor and although it had a blind when you turn over in bed the PIR picks you up and turns on the corridor light so it flashed constantly throughout the night. Bed linen was marked and to be honest looked dirty. Will not stay again but will use it as a pub if I return to Melton.

Hotel is lovely and great food however- worst night sleep ever due to the most uncomfortable mattress! Felt the springs all night and it actually left marks on our bodies! Room 119. Told receptionist and they said it would be better next time we come….

Attended for a wedding, late service, ran out of beef which was the main course and wife ordered a vegetarian option which never came. A couple of veggies were offered meat sausages to accompany their veggie option! Absolutely poor service.

A lot of the reviews on here are for the pub and food, which I cannot comment on - as I didn’t eat or drink here. I did stay over though… before I get in to that, I have to state - I found the staff brilliant and really friendly. I did not enjoy the stay however. Before considering staying here, ponder the following questions: Do you like being woken up every hour by external noise because the bedroom window can’t be closed? Do you like the idea of staying in a room with paper thin walls which enable you to hear your neighbour having their morning dump in so much audible detail, it’s almost like they are sat next to you? Do you like the idea of being unrelentingly itchy because the room is grubby and hasn’t had a deep clean since it was fitted in 2002? Surely you want to stay in a room that has stains on the walls and floor, that closely resemble a tikka masala? No? How about a carpet that has an underfoot crunch to it as you walk to the bathroom? Do you like the idea of a very odd smell, possibly a small gas leak in your bathroom? Do you like sleeping on a bed that is like laying on pea gravel in a sack? Do you absolutely want the guarantee of the worst nights sleep you’ve had in years? Answered yes to any of the above? Then this my friends, is the place for you! The restaurant and bar might be fine but Seriously, don’t stay here.

I’ve been staying at the Harboro hotel for many years and all I can say is it the staff are fantastic and I’ve never had anything but amazing service. The landlord is so friendly. The rooms have gone through a recent renovation and the beer garden has been transformed and is the best venue in Melton. I’ve also stayed here many times and I’ve never had any complaints. The rooms are modern and the staff very friendly.

A mediocre hotel. No thrills. My room was quite small and compact. The bed was comfortable . The was no air con and the windows only opened ever so slightly . There was a fan in the room but it didnt do much. Stayed over for a work social. We had few drinks at the bar and ate at the hotel. The drinks and food was nice.
