The Quorn Lodge Hotel

Not bad

Not a positive experience. We had been offered this hotel as an alternative to Scalford Country House as this had been temporarily closed. Outside was very shabby and looked run down. Inside of the hotel was slightly less run down but smelt old and musty. The room was large enough but very tired. We were horrified to find black mould all down the wall. We wanted to go and explore so when we returned I approached the receptionist who told us that they were aware there was a problem with mould in that room but it had been cleaned and checked on Tuesday. They reluctantly changed our room but was not happy as the upper floors currently had no hot water so they were limited where the could put us. We showed the receptionist the room and her only reply was that someone had not left the bathroom window open. We second room was also very shabby with a few paint stains on the carpet and the TV kept cutting out whilst we were watching it. The kettle kept cutting out. On inspection of the inside of the kettle the element was burnt! I went to reception they had no spare kettles but would make me a drink or could fill up a teapot for me with hot water. I chose the latter option and waited whilst she boiled the kettle. I was very disappointed and upset as this was meant to be a birthday treat for my partner and he was less than impressed with the quality of the accommodation. Would not recommend and would definitely not paid the full price for the room that was advertised in reception.

Good stand by Disppointed with the room as on booking it appeared to be on the ground floor, ideal for my husband who has mobility issues, but on arrival it was on the second floor up some steep stairs, not ideal. I had checked in on line as requested but when we got there the receptionist had no knowledge of this and we had to go through the whole proceedure again. Irritating. The shower was tiny and the whole place could do with some refurbishment. Not much choice for breakfast although what we got was beautifully cooked. On weekdays stops serving at 9am so no late mornings. Suggest talking to the hotel before booking.

Convenient for the town, clean and comfortable, just small irritations, broken window blinds,telly controller stuck together with glue and very fragile, too few usable plugs for phone charging

Disappointed Stayed about 12 months ago and enjoyed my stay so I returned. This time I was in a different room, the double bed mattress was really hard and I had a bad nights sleep. The room was too warm and I couldn't turn the radiator off or down due to broken valve. The shower was poor as the shower head needs replacing or cleaning. I did it breakfast which was very good. It's a shame as the staff are great!
