Very nice location, I felt like it was very good pricing. They do make up the room every other day, so just need to be prepared for that. Pretty good amenities. The lack of an established pick up/drop off point will be a little awkward. But otherwise I like the place.

In the suburb of Preston. The rooms are large, apartment-style hotels with open kitchens where you can cook for yourself.

As a former hotel worker and frequent traveler I was very impressed with The StandardX Hotel and Staff. Friendly, approachable staff who were always smiling and helpful. Certainly has a much more youthful vibe compared to your normal Hilton, Hyatt etc. I was apparently upgraded to Room 501 for a three night stay. A hand written note with some delicious pastries on arrival in room. The rooms are nicely styled, a bit different and a little tight. A room to sleep in, certainly not one to spend the day working from as there is no couch, or table to work from. The bed was amazingly comfortable. I'd go so far as to say the most comfy hotel bed i've slept in. If you like fresh air, you could also open the window for some brisk Melb air. Very clean and quiet rooms. The glass walled (frosted) bathroom might concern some, although I had no issue as it was just me. The rooftop terrace is fantastic although there is no bar or cafe, you'll need to bring your food, drink or laptop up here to work with an amazing view. Hotel is located close to trams and the nightlife of Fitzroy around the corner. Unfortunately I did not try the restaurant so can't comment on the food there but the menu looked delicious. Looking forward to returning.

The good, the bad, and the ugly. The ugly. We stayed on the second floor with a laneway directly behind our room. Very regularly, every night, there was a loud sound of compressed air escaping from a vessel of some sort which reverberated in the confined space between buildings. It was loud enough to wake you up if you weren’t in a deep sleep. You could hear it over the TV and other background noise. The time interval between the compressed air escaping was about the time it took us to ALMOST get to sleep. By the third night we were sick of the lack of sleep and went to a chemist to buy earplugs. Although they helped, they didn’t block all the noise from the compressed air. But we were SO tired by then we finally got to sleep. The bad. The bed wasn’t too bad, but the pillows were just about ready to put outside for the dog to sleep on. One had a bit of ‘body’ left in it, the other was completely deflated. Had to fold in half to get my head up high enough to keep my neck from aching. (At least the pain in my neck distracted me from the air compressor noise!) The rooms aren’t serviced. The room smelt a bit ‘enclosed’. Like the wardrobe smell you get in a cupboard you haven’t opened for a long while. Carpets could have done with a steam and perfume? It wasn’t bad enough to cause concern though. Just an indication of the level of service. Bathroom mouldy. The good. The motel was very central, which was very handy. Trams practicality on every corner. 720 restaurants/bars/cafes within 500m radius of motel. The one staff member we met was very nice and friendly. There was plenty of steaming hot water in the shower.

Clean rooms, friendly staff and perfect location. Easily accessible to the public transport and eating points. Great value for the money. Good budget option for a short visit. I would love to come again.

Maybe it was once nice but it has got so many issues with it and I highly recommend you look elsewhere. We stayed in a two bedroom one bathroom apartment and it was honestly the worst hotel we have ever stayed at. We were assigned room 2201W. Here are the issues we encountered during our four night stay. 1. Power outage on our last day with no back up generator for the entire building (both east and west). It’s 31 degrees outside so opening the doors is also not a smart option. Started at 9am and is already over 4 hours. As I have breastmilk in the fridge for my 3 month old, this is my worst nightmare. 2. Safe battery is low. Why hasn’t anyone changed it??? 3. Bathroom shower head plate is broken so water sprays at you un-uniformly and overall unpleasant. 4. Water drips out of the shower but the fall doesn’t go to the drain so the floor remains flooded. 5. Due to point number 4, the bottom of the bathroom door has expanded and the door does NOT close. It is so jammed that it feels like you’d break the handle trying to jam the latch in and back out. 6. Stupid placement of the microwave. You can’t open the microwave door more than 45 degrees. How on earth do you put a dinner plate in there??? 7. Missing cups/ mugs and glasses. 3 mugs, two short glasses, two tall glasses and odd numbered cutlery. Just fix it, for crying out loud! The top rack of the dishwasher was also broken making it difficult to pull in and out the middle rack. 8. Upon check in, we didn’t have any cleaning supplies such as dishwashing tablets, hand washing liquid for dishes or laundry powder. 9. Rooms are so tiny. Don’t expect to be able to open your medium sized luggages inside your room. We kept our two in the so called living space instead. 10. Generally upkeep is not there. Walls have visible stains and grime from previous guests. The whole place just overall felt really really filthy. 11. Not family friendly either. There is a flight of stairs at the entry and no ramp. There is a wheelchair elevator to the side which takes way too long to operate with a crying baby. If you’re on your own, be prepared to lift you pram up or hope a Good Samaritan can help you because the hotel staff won’t. Clearly there are issues within management and housekeeping. I sense laziness and lack of hospitality understanding is to blame. STAY ELSEWHERE!!!

Good service, great location within CBD, close to Southern Cross and Flinders stations, within free tram zone too. The bed was comfie enough, room small, dated and needed a lick of paint and fridge really noisy. Even at 5 storeys up you can hear traffic, especially sirens. BUT, I wouldn't let that put you off, IF you simply need an affordable base to go explore etc.

Great hotel close to city center near Coles and Southern Cross station, very convenient. There is a swimming pool, sauna room, steam room, arcade, and gym for all guests to use for free. Rooms are clean and spacious, but the heating can be improved. Amenities are provided in the bathroom.

I am interstate for business on a regular basis and have stayed in many well rated accommodation venues however, I struggle to find anything to criticize at this hotel. The staff are amazing - nothing is too much trouble, they do all the little things, over and above what I would expect to make you feel like a special guest. They all seemed to be ”hand-picked” to suit the service culture of the hotel. The quality and cleanliness of the facilities are A1. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. A small table & chairs, couch and huge TV were a welcome feature. The conference facilities worked well. Conference catering, breakfast room and intimate Bistro/cocktail bar offered quality food & drinks. My partner is disabled in a wheelchair and all his needs were well & truly met in a standard room. Only 1 suggestion - it would be great to have magnetic door stoppers installed so the door will stay open while moving through with the wheelchair or bags. We arrived in Melbourne from Sydney at 8pm on Monday 10th, with the intention of staying at an apartment we booked. We got to the apartment and it was shocking. We couldn’t stay at this particular apartment as it was not to our satisfaction and was not safe as we had 4 children with us. We looked to find alternate apartments and we came across Nesuto Hotel. The time now was 10pm. We gave them a call and asked if we could have a look at the apartment before making a decision as we wanted to make sure it was safe for our children. The manager Krisha agreed for us to have a look. We were impressed and booked 2 hotel rooms. Krisha and her staff were amazing and very caring. She saw how stressed out we were and wanted us to be happy. The next day Krisha called my room to see if I was ok as she saw how upset and stressed I was. All I could say is that this has been the best hotels we have been to. The beds were very comfortable, the rooms were very clean and it was close to public transport. But best of all was that the staff were very caring and polite. I would highly recommend this hotel.
