Chuquiragua Lodge & Spa

The good: They have good food at a reasonable price, a nice hot tub and sauna suite, neat and spacious grounds. The location is nice for transiting from Quilotoa to Banos. Staff were nice. They had a game room and apparently a fire pit that we never found. Rooms were clean and sufficiently furnished. The bad: They were pretty disorganized with payment. We could not pay for dinner immediately, but the cost was instead tacked onto someone's final bill for the stay, and we had to figure it out between us retroactively. We were also double-charged for an order of beers to the hot tub - two separate people were charged on checkout. Additionally, the rooms got very cold at night, with sparse to no heating depending on the room. They gave lots of blankets, but it was still pretty bad.

Traveling with my wife and friends, we got rooms here at the end of our volcano trekking trip. It was so nice! Reception was accommodating and had nice relaxing music playing. They showed us our rooms and some of the nice facilities. The property is a series of small buildings, giving a good level of privacy and outdoor exposure. The views are very nice all around. We were able to access the hot tub and sauna for $10 extra, and we were able to order beers there. They also have an outdoor fire and a game room. We've seen quite a few other people around who seem to be enjoying it. I really like it here!

Never did I think I would be saying that I had been in the same campsite as a 36 hour Shrek bender and been kept awake till 3 am by childrens music and fireworks above my tent with no consideration for my welfare.I would not return if I was paid in diamonds and gold.The staff seemed to treat our group of paying customers as a nuisance while they prioritised this cult gathering.A man screamed into a microphone in a marquee 100m from me and my friends until 4 am while we desperately tried to sleep for just an hour.When mentioned to the staff we were given no apology.These parties happen twice a month at this campsite so I advise you to stay clear.

Absolutely awful. Whilst I was staying here with my friends there was also a cult taking part in devil worship for over 3 days. All partakes were on *****. There were clowns running up and down where we were camping. There was a tent full of adults screaming all day long. Non stop. They also used a foam machine which was used write by our tents so covered our washing which was hanging up damaging our clothes. The cult set off fire works 1 metre from our tents which created a huge safety issue. I highly recommend not coming here. The staff are rude. Unwelcoming. There are much better places to stay. I recommend the hostel Adino in Quito were the staff treat u like family.

We came here under recommendation by our tour company. Note that the room rate is very expensive as is dinner. Interestingly, the lunch we received whilst our tour operator was with us was a much better value. Breakfast was ok. The spa facilities advertised are awful. The jacuzzi was not working, which seems to be a regular occurrence given other reviews. The steam room was apparently working but was freezing inside with some sort of black mould/ residue inside. The hosts don't across friendly and seem to hover as I think they know that they are charging price. The sauna is made from oven grill elements that are fused together which does not seem at all safe. There is absolutely nothing to do here, so given that the spa was unavailable/ unsafe, we felt stranded for the night The shower never has hot water, as seems to be a common occurrence having read other reviews. I would avoid this place as there are much cheaper hostels in the vicinity for around $12 a night. If you are on a day your to Cotopaxi from Quito, I would return back to Quito or stay elsewhere.

The lodge is in a wonderful countryside location, with a view to Cotopaxi mountain. Being a few miles apart from the nearest village, you'll probably end up dining there: food is good and reasonably priced. The rooms are simple, but clean and well kept. The greatest asset are the people who work there. The owner, Angie, helped us rearranging our whole holiday after a tour was cancelled! Definitely recommended!
