Meikleour Arms Hotel & Restaurant

Lovely stay in a beautiful hotel with superb service and food.

Was staying overnight in the area and popped in here for our evening meal. The food and staff were lovely. The ambience and decor is really nice and great value for money. Will definitely be back when next in the area.

A truly delightful stay - a warm welcome, comfortable and well-appointed rooms, very tasty food. This is a real gem, in a pretty and peaceful location.

We chose the Meikleour Arms hotel as the ideal place to celebrate our Diamond Wedding anniversary in June. We had two delicious dinners and the limited staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Members of our family who know the hotel well and had recommended it to us, had communicated several times with them as to how to make it a special stay for us and been assured that we had been allocated a room within the main building. So we were somewhat surprised on our arrival to be directed to the annex, to a delightful room though the television was on strike, and up a stair that frankly was not suitable for those who were known not to have been in their first flush of youth! Possibly we should have been flattered! Sadly that, and the apparent lack of information and coordination with a very willing restaurant staff, made what should have been made an even more special occasion a bit of a disappointment .

We visited for lunch and enjoyed a delicious meal in a lovely restaurant. At first the music was a bit loud but it was turned down which suited us well. The starters were both excellent, I had the moules mariniere, good portion size and the flavour was wonderful, my wife had the asparagus, again, cooked to perfection and a seasonal must have. The halibut was so tasty that I wish had chosen it, my wife let me have a wee taste, superbly done. I had a steak and ale pie, again very tasty, I wasn't able to eat it all unfortunately, too much! The house ale was cold and very refreshing, washed the meal down very nicely. Food and drink were great but the service was even better, never got any names but both our servers were friendly and attentive, well done. We also had a blether with the two ladies at the next table, could have talked to them all day? We had intended staying here but had to change our plans unfortunately, but we shall definitely return and stay over in order to enjoy the experience all over again. Keep up the good work.

What a wonderful overnight stay. The hotel is delightful, the room we stayed in (The Murray) was beautifully decorated and the bed was very comfortable. Arran Aromatics toiletries, the homemade shortbread and sherry were all nice touches too. Our friends stayed in The Lansdowne and this room on the ground floor was also really nice. Our meal in the restaurant was great and the walks we enjoyed down to the river were very enjoyable. All in all a superb night away to catch up with friends.
