Cactus Inn

For genuine motel experience whilst travelling Route 66 the Cactus Inn in McLean was as authentic as it gets. Very basic but was clean and provided a good nights rest. Not much in the way of cafes or food establishments (at least on a Sunday night) however room is equipped with fridge, microwave and coffee machine which is adequate for self provision - local convenience store only two minute drive away. WIFI not the greatest however as pointed out on the many wee notes and bits of info left in the room they don’t actually advertise it. Comfortable stay in one of Route 66’s founding towns, which also hosts the renowned Devils Rope Museum - not something you experience everyday and worth the visit 👍

Perfect stop. We got two rooms both were large,clean and uniquely decorated. It's an older motel but that was exactly why we stopped. Front desk was very friendly and gave us info on the restaurant behind the motel and location of gas station. Which is right around the corner. Would stay there again and recommend! Thank you for a great stay!

We booked this around 11pm because of bad weather. The staff was welcoming, accommodating and very friendly. Although old, this family owned inn was a nice place to stay

My daughter had to stay here for the night paid 85$ for a run down hotel room and woke up COVERED in BED BUG BITES! It was brought to the front desk attendants attention and she dismissed her as if she got them somewhere else… which is not possible! So just beware and check room thoroughly before paying because they will not issue a refund for such a horrible experience! She literally saw one crawling on her sweater when she wokey up, she’s young and shy so didn’t want to say anything but I told her she needed to go bring it to their attention and hopefully they’d do the right thing and offer a refund… they didn’t!

1950's kitchy classic We're snowbirds that like staying at unique hotels as we drive from Phoenix to Maryland - especially ones with a 1950's Rt 66 vibe. This is a fun one. Important facts - its also clean and the staff were really friendly. Had a fridge and little cafe table in the "suite" that only cost us $10 more than the standard room. Worth it! Only one convenience store in town so get your meals to go and bring them with you.

The best hotel I stayed at on my cross country trip. Every room was themed as a different state in Route 66 and the staff was amazing and kind.
