We spent a week at the Summit at Massanutten this August, two adults and two children, and we came home feeling like true mountain people. There’s something about waking up to those views that makes everyone a little happier. The two-bedroom unit was perfect for our family. Two bedrooms meant everyone had their own cozy space to rest and recharge, and the beds were so comfortable it was hard to get up in the morning. The living area quickly became our favorite gathering spot for games, stories, and evening wind-downs. The full kitchen was a real highlight. We made pancakes in the mornings, cooked relaxed family dinners, and even had a little cooking competition together. Having a complete kitchen made the week feel like a scenic second home, and it was a lovely way to save on meals out. The location is truly beautiful, with mountain scenery that makes you want to stop and take it all in. One helpful tip for other families: be sure to bring natural tick repellent, and plenty of it. This has nothing to do with the resort itself, but the ticks in the area were very active this August, so hiking didn’t work out well for us this time. We still enjoyed the beauty of the area in other ways. The only thing that bothered us was that on weekends, the music nearby was very loud and continued until around 11 p.m. If you’re traveling with young children or like quiet evenings, it’s good to know ahead of time. Overall, the Summit gave us a comfortable, welcoming home base and a week of wonderful family memories. We’d happily come back, and we’ll pack extra tick repellent next time. Highly recommended for families and anyone who loves cooking, comfort, and beautiful mountain views.
