I found this property when we had to move out earlier than planed for renovation works to our house. On arrival we were all stunned at the beauty on the gardens , the wild life, the fact we appear to be the only guests. Staff were amazing as i had 1 night were we had no where to staff, and staff were able to accommodate us. If you are looking for peace tranquillity i would highly recommend this place. Thank you to the owners for blessing us the opportunity of staying in your property. Absolutely Amazing!

Perfect in every way
Absolutely amazing place, will be booking again for Easter next year! Cannot fault anything here! Beautiful scenery all around. My daughter wants to get married here and I agree this would be the perfect venue!

Also Martin is the gentleman we called if we had any issues! He was polite and helpful when I had to have sone help regarding an Amazon delivery! Cannot wait to comeback again.

Wij logeerde in de McDowall Cottage. Mooi, vrijstaand en heerlijk rustig. Bij aankomst hadden wij wat kleine aanvangsprobleempjes met de apparatuur maar deze werden door Nan snel en adequaat verholpen. Doordat wij in het weekend verbleven was, ook aangekondigd, niemand aanwezig, ook niet op het kasteel. en kregen wij bij eventuele calamiteiten een noodnummer van de persoon die wij konden bellen. Hier geen gebruik van gemaakt. Informatie was voldoende aanwezig wat je kon doen in de omgeving en waar de eetgelegenheden waren. Wij voelden ons dat weekend als tijdelijk bewoners op dit landgoed de Lord & Lady van Blairquhan Castle. Hebben dan ook een heerlijk lang weekend gehad.

The cottage is set in the grounds of beautiful Blairquhan castle ,lots of lovely walks on your doorstep. Bedrooms were clean with good quality bedding,plenty of towels. Cottage is very spacious for a large group,big dining table and plenty of sofas and chairs in the living room. Loads of crockery,glasses and dishwasher tablets. Excellent shower on first floor(AFTER I CLEANED THE SHOWER HEAD) HOWEVER cleanliness was a major issue: stairs were covered in dust and gravel cutlery drawer had food debris and hairs in it greasy oven trays table cover dirty bathrooms were dirty-especially around door handles and skirting boards I did complain and cleaners came back the next day Its such a shame,the cottage has so much potential and it would then be better value for money The bathroom has no shelves and not even a hook on the back of the door-absolutely no where to put anything Loo rolls and handwash was cheap and poor quality You are not allowed to use the fire-this was SO disappointing The whole cottage needs an update and deep clean I complained when i got home,we were so disappointed especially as it was Christmas and to be fair i was given a partial refund.

This was such a charming, beautiful location right near a castle! The 200 acre grounds were stunning: we LOVED the walled garden; the walking paths, the sheep in the fields; the river running through- just absolutely peaceful and lovely! We stayed in the Wauchope cottage- there were 4 bedrooms that housed 8 of us perfectly. Plenty of room. Large dining table, large living room, huge bathrooms! Beds were very comfortable! It was recently renovated: brand new kitchen and carpet so that was a pleasant surprise because the pictures we saw when we booked weren't as updated. I will say- location is not close to any big cities or towns but that's the experience we wanted: beautiful countryside lodging in the heart of Scotland. I only wish we were able to tour the castle- that would have been awesome! But we could only admire from outside. Staff was extremely helpful and responsive via email. They had staff onsite (I believe they stayed in the castle) to help with anything. we had them restock us with toilet paper because we ran out. The only other con was that they did not have a dryer. There was a washing machine for washing clothes but you need to give it a day or two for your clothes to dry out on the hangers. Such a pleasant stay and wish we had stayed there longer!
