Lovely big airy rooms with the comfiest beds
Good parking - even though the steps down to the pub were steep my 96 year old mum managed them
Land lady and mum made us very welcome
Breakfast included was a bonus - cereal or full English which was lovely
Evening meals were really good quality and value for money
We stayed on a night with live music and again this was really good and finished by 11pm so a little bonus

I have never stayed in such a bad hotel! As soon as I stepped into this hotel, the musty smell of the carpet and the smell of dogs hit my nose. The outdoor area was full of garbage and cigarette butts. The tables and stools in the underground bar and restaurant area were all stained, making people uncomfortable. It was even more terrible to go up to the room. There was a layer of brown dust under the countertop, the pillowcase was yellow, and the wooden frame of the window was rotten. It couldn't be opened and closed at will. In view of this, we had to clean it ourselves once before we could barely stay. We rented three rooms for three days. The basic configuration of each room was not complete. There was no soap, no cups, toilet paper, towels... We had to share it with each other. The light bulb in the room was broken. It was not replaced three days after the complaint. One of the rooms was even worse. The wash basin and the stand were clogged... We tried hard to find a useful room in this hotel, but there was really nothing!

Very disappointed as we had booked and paid for bed and breakfast but there was in fact no breakfast and the owner has refused to offer a refund. Scaffolding was put up outside our windows on the second day of our stay with no apologies.

We stayed at the Black Swan for 3 nights, the room was comfortable, clean and spacious. The staff were really helpful and made us very welcome as did the locals. We ate here for the 3 nights we stayed and have to say the food was 1st class, well presented, in fact the steak we had on their steak night on the Friday was one of the nicest steaks we have had for a long time.

Wow how disappointing. Popped in for a beer on my way home. As a 'local' astounded at way the bar staff (female) were spoken to by whom I was told afterwards was the Landlord. Derogatory comments and demeaning his staff in front of paying Customers. WiFi issues are not the issue of the staff that is a Management issue. Astounded and will wait for the Landlords to change before I revisit.

Having seen several positive posts about new management we thought we would try out the food this evening. An absolutely awful meal - deep fried potatoes, meat and veg dumped on a plate, cold and tasteless. Do Not Bother!

We stopped here for drinks and lunch. Very quiet, despite it being holiday season. A small menu, but sufficient variety of choice to cater for non meat eaters. Prompt service and reasonable prices. Would come again to try the evening specials menu. No specials available on a Monday.

Do not stay here the hotel rooms are dirty and smelly there is no WiFi or breakfast and worst of all the rooms are being let illegally as they do not meet fire compliance regulations

Was so looking forward to visiting The Black Swan for Sunday dinner, I rang first to book a table, and to ask about vegan options, they reassured me that they had them. We arrived and ordered our food at the bar, the lady asked if there were any allergies, and again I reiterated no milk or dairy. She went on to say that they had no ' nutless' roast but could make me a vegetable alternative, I agreed stating that I am vegan so no milk or dairy. She agreed. When the food arrived, it was a plate of vegetables with Yorkshire pudding (!) and cauliflower cheese!! I explained again that I was vegan , she apologised and said there must've been a communication problem!! She offered me a refund ( half the price of my meal) very poor service, pub not suitable for vegans.
