Public Facilities 'Izu-Matsuzakisou' Matsuzaki Onsen

I have passed through Matsuzaki Town in Nishiizu many times and come here for cherry blossom viewing. I have stayed at Kumomi Onsen a few times, but this was my first time staying at Matsuzaki Onsen, and the inn is a large national guesthouse. My partner recently started touring the national guesthouses (you get some kind of reward with a stamp), so we often stay at national guesthouses. The reward this time was a 500 yen discount per person. We arrived a little early, but they let us check in. The room was a perfect ocean view, a 10-tatami Japanese-style room with a wide veranda. We could see Matsuzaki Beach on the left. We could see people doing SUP in the sea. The bathroom was spacious and the room was comfortable. The bath on the sixth floor is a large public bath with hot and warm water, and it is a natural hot spring. There is also an open-air bath. Unfortunately, the open-air bath is covered, so you can't see the ocean view very well, but the indoor bath has an ocean view. Even though it is a national guesthouse, the bathroom area was equipped with amenities and there was a water cooler. Unfortunately, dinner was disappointing. Although the accommodation fee of 14,080 yen is not reasonable, the number of dishes was few and I felt that there was not much creativity. The steamed chicken crystal salad was just salad chicken with seaweed crystals and fried vegetable flakes, which even I could make (and the amount was very large). The cold tomato udon was also not very tasty. I think the salted squid is locally produced, but it was the only small appetizer. The rice was accompanied by three very small vegetable tempura and a boiled red fish that could be eaten in one or two bites. The dessert was milk can. Matsuzaki Town is a fishing port and has seafood and mountain produce, but I felt that local ingredients were not used very much. For some reason, there were a lot of floor staff. They were cheerful and friendly. The alcoholic beverages were reasonably priced, starting at 1,100 yen for 300cc of local sake, which was a good point. There is a sake called "Craft Nama", which is produced by Hana no Mai in Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, but is processed by Monde Sake Brewery in Yamanashi. The aluminum bottles at Monde are well designed and are good for a quick drink by yourself. The small bottles of this sake were the same. Breakfast was a buffet. There was a decent selection, including scrambled eggs, horse mackerel, and miso soup with lots of ingredients. There was also a chiffon cake with sakura leaves for dessert. The cake made from sakura leaves from Matsuzaki Town, which accounts for 70% of the Sakuraba production, is made with salted sakura leaves and is salty and sweet and delicious. There was no yogurt for dessert, but there was a yogurt drink. My partner ate two bowls of curry, saying it was delicious. We slowly drank coffee while looking at the sea. This town-run guesthouse opened in 1934, and there was a sign near the bathroom explaining that it cost 900 yen for two meals at the time.
