The tatami room was perfect for a family of three, but the bathroom was tiny. The hotel is a 10-minute walk from the station, and there's not much to eat nearby. The breakfast was average, not recommended. There were Chinese people at the front desk, but overall, the value for money was okay.

Since our main destination was Kamikochi, staying in Matsumoto was the best option. The Man'ya Hotel was a great value (breakfast included), and the rooms were spacious. There was a washing machine and dryer on the second floor, along with an ice machine, which was very convenient. Matsumoto isn't a big hotel, just a 10-minute walk from the station and a 15-20 minute walk to attractions like the art museum and Matsumoto Castle.

The location is excellent. The hotel is quite standard. It is a traditional Japanese hotel. The breakfast is also Japanese-style. You can see the peak of Matsumoto Castle from the room window.
