Radha's Cottage is a lovely retreat, very well located at the end of the road in Matheran. It's a simple place, furnished largely with period furniture. The food is outstanding - the best I've had in 6 weeks of traveling in India.
For those who are unfamiliar with Matheran as I was, a couple pieces of information:
- The "toy train" runs very infrequently. Be sure to get a schedule if you plan to take it from the parking.
- It's a 4.5km walk from the train station near the parking to Radha's. Don't believe the stationmaster if he tells you it's a 20 minute walk, it's an hour's walk.
- It's still another 1.5km from the train station in the village to Radha's. If you've got a bag it's probably a good idea to get some help from a porter.
- Sometimes the electricity goes out. When we stayed, these outages were brief, just a minute or 2.
- Sometimes the water in the bathroom is dark brown. This surprised us one morning. It's dirt, and cleared during the course of the day.

Stayed at Jasmine Suite. Very clean, home style tasty food with not much masala and oil. Food is buffet only. But they attended to my specific food requirements in addition to the set menu of the buffet. Well mannered staff, Raju was really helpful

I had an exceptional stay at Radha Cottage Heritage Resort in Matheran. This 125-year-old heritage property exudes vintage charm and offers a peaceful retreat amidst lush greenery. The ambience is serene, with a hilltop location that provides a quiet escape from city life. Sitting on the swing, listening to birds chirping in the morning and evening, was truly relaxing. The cottages are cozy and well-designed, blending old-world elegance with modern amenities. My room was spacious, clean, and had stunning forest views. The staff was warm, courteous, and always ready to assist, making my stay comfortable and enjoyable. The food was the highlight—freshly prepared and absolutely delicious. Every meal felt homely, with a perfect balance of flavors. The location is a little away from Matheran station, but the peaceful surroundings make it worth the walk. It's an ideal place to unwind, far from the noise and crowds. Overall, Radha Cottage Heritage Resort is a hidden gem, perfect for a relaxing getaway. With its vintage charm, excellent hospitality, and amazing food, I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Matheran.

Beautiful villa nestled in the middle of a forest in Matheran. I loved the place, the food & the location. It is away from the market. Property is maintained very well. They serve amazing and mouthwatering home-made food. Hidden gem. This place is few mins away from Usha Ascot & Byke. Horse riders usually charge more to reach here. we got a deal of Rs.700.

Great hospitality by Ms Radha, Mr Manoj and their team. Food is genuinely authentic and delicious. Ambience is restaurants is so lovely, songs played on tapercorder. They take care of guest in every manner. Resort is truly a heritage property and has amazing facilities. So close to nature and bare mini disturbance to native species and ecosystem. All the best team Radha cottage.

The location , the calm and the service and attention won over our hearts. The room was one with nothing to complain about.bfood was varied and healthy. The walks were soothing even within the campus and of course proximity to great matheran view points is a big plus.

Radha Cottage provided a heartfelt and memorable stay. Radha and staff were welcoming, accommodating our last-minute candlelight dinner request and creating a magnificent decor with a surprise cake! - The location is 20-25 minute walk from Matheran station. - It is close to various popular view points like Rambaug, Sunrise, Little chowk, Chowk, One tree and Belvedere point. It is safe overall, but beware of monkeys. - Room was neat, clean & cozy. - The food was very tasty, with lots of variety and hygienic preparation.
