Hotel Melissa was absolutely fantastic! Very quiet, because it wasn't near the noisy center of Matala. The swimming pool wasn't cold even though the weather was still rather cool. The rooms and restaurant were spotlessly clean. The matrasses comfortable. Breakfast abundant and with a lot of choices. The owner very friendly and helpful. We loved the musquito screens, which allowed us to sleep with the balcony door open. We only used the airco for a few hours, but it was working very well. If you have mobility problems ask for a room near the restaurant, so that you don't have to use the stairs that lead to the other rooms.

We Traveled to Matala because of severe weather in Chania area, so we chased the sun and ended up looking for a new place to stay. Most welcoming reception and could not have made us feel more special. Rooms are modern and newly decorated, breakfast included and a great pool. If you’re looking for a great place to relax and explore the southern side of Crete then this is just the place. Great value

I stayed for two weeks and had a very enjoyable time. The rooms were simply built, but always kept clean. Dinner was Greek home cooking with a lot of vegetables and was very delicious. I especially liked the moussaka and soup. The owners and staff were very friendly and I would like to go back again. It was about a 20-minute walk from the hotel to the beach, and the nearest beach, Matala Beach, was very crowded, so I liked Kommo, which was about a 10-minute drive away. Not only was the beach beautiful, but there were few people and I was able to relax.

To flee !!! The meals are shameful, especially dinner (it is not a buffet and no Greek specialty of the stay) an apple or two pieces of watermelon for dessert and the starter several evenings with just green salad alone. The breakfast really wasn't great. No free water during the meal 1€50 per liter and ban on bringing your own water with dinner. The room: the fridge is very noisy, the toilet flush is almost useless, no soundproofing. The housekeepers enter the room at 8:40 in the morning. The welcome is very limited, the manager is not at all smiling and no goodbye at the start of the stay. Very expensive for what it is.

Small family-run hotel. Super clean! Very kind and helpful owners. When booking, I suggest asking for a room not under the dining area, otherwise you risk a bit of confusion for those who want to sleep. It was certainly once a very decent 3-star hotel, which also had an impressive quiet location, about 2 km outside of Matalas. However, it is clear that no money has been invested in the hotel and its facilities for a long time. Broken showers, saggy beds, broken air conditioning are just a few examples. The refrigerator in the room is so loud that you have to turn it off at night to sleep. The hotel owner and her daughter are very friendly and helpful, they also speak German, the breakfast is local, we did not have dinner. All in all: Even if you are prepared to make compromises in terms of room quality because of the low price, this hotel will not satisfy you. A general renovation is urgently needed here!

Nice hotel, cozy room but bathroom too small, dark, and in need of modernization. Very poor breakfast especially in the sweet part, little choice and not even the provision of a coffee (perhaps only possible for a fee). The infinity pool and the small balcony in the room are nice.
