This Inn was very fun to explore - staff expects/encourages it, since it has a lot of "hidden" areas designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It is easy to get lost or turned around, but you can also find your way back pretty easily. If you are tall (over 6'2") be prepared to duck a lot! All the staff were super friendly and kind. Our room was a corner room on the second floor. Very nice to have two sets of windows, even though the view out the back was not very appealing. It was a small room, but we expected that because of it's history. The floor was a bit uneven, becasue of it's age. The bed was comfortable, with 4 pillows on the queen bed. There were outlets on both sides of the bed so we could both charge our phones overnight. However, only one side of the bed controled the lights. There was a small fridge hidden in the cabinet. While it chilled our water, it did not get very cold. The room was very quiet (except for a weird knock that the fridge gave every once in a while). There was a band playing right next to the Inn and we didn't hear it at all in our room. This Inn is very convenient to everything we came to do. In fact, we did a lot of walking because it wasn't worth driving. The town is very pedestrian friendly - there were a lot of people out on the Friday Night we were there.

Situated in history-preserving Mason City, Iowa, this delightful FLW hotel is a gem. Small, cozy and Mid-western friendly, my wife and I was continually surprised how at "home" the staff made us feel. The front office, the manager, the gift shop and others went out of their way to make sure our stay was a pleasant and comfortable one. The public rooms preserved Frank Lloyd Wright's original design and for architects, students or ordinary people like ourselves, this was like stepping back in time a 100 years and enjoying an experiencing what our grandfathers enjoyed. If you are looking for a quiet respite or just a relaxing stay somewhat off the beaten path, this is worth a visit. The restaurant is a fine place for dinner [see Lead light]. Mason City is also a terrific place to "slow down [you move too fast], you've got to make the morning last".

Do not do not do not stay during the Mason City music festival. Yes it was a music festival so music is being played. But we had no clue it was going on and it rattled the windows till 12 /1 o’clock in the morning and people were out on the streets till 2 in the morning. All the article articles I read talked about views of the city park, our view was awful. We got a view of the restaurant next to us. I also read about discounts to the new bar and restaurant you do not get discounts. There is no place to eat breakfast. The room was clean and the tour the next day of the hotel was amazing. Highly recommend the tour

Even though this hotel is historic, it has modern amenities and is nicely decorated. I loved staying here and would definitely stay again. There is off street parking available. A restaurant and bar onsite. We stayed on the top floor, so it was quiet. The windows and furnishings are lovely. The lounges and sitting areas are comfortable and cozy. The downtown location is convenient and walkable.

This is the only place I stay at in Mason City. Each room is a little different (my favorite layouts are the odd number rooms on the second floor) The rooms are big enough to walk around and have a few suitcases. You can walk to get any meal or drink. Parking is super easy and in front or along side the hotel. The staff are always nice and willing to help. I love the history and design.
