Typucal old style hotel. I suggestivo to avoid rooms from no. 1 to no 7 as they are really noiose being just close to the road. Anyway the place is full of history. Here overnighted H. Boiardo and K. Hepburn in 1950/51. Staff is kind but the place should be renewed.

Sehr altehrwürdiges Haus. Alles tipp, topp! Schöne Zimmer, mit bequemen Betten. Sehr gutes Frühstück und Abendessen im indischen Stil. Sehr viele dekorative Einzelheiten. Wir bekamen sogar eine Führung. Wohnten neben Hemingways Zimmer Nummer 8:-)

The whole review is that ,the hospitality was excellent Imediatelly we arrived, everyone was there for us trying to help , that was really amazing please keep it up. The room hygene was good. no comment about it. The morning breakfast was really nice and service excellent waaaw. Masindi Hotel will always be my place to enjoy away from Home.

This hotel oozes history. It has timeless charm and feels like you are stepping back in time. The staff are so friendly and will do anything to help. The rooms have beautiful simple yet stunning decor. It's the sort of place you want to start writing a book. The gardens create a tranquil atmosphere. Our delicious breakfast was only disturbed by monkeys also wanting our banana. (top tip - ask for the soft pillows on the bed) Also the gift shop is particularly good and the crafts are embedded throughout the hotel.

Excellent service from helpful, friendly staff. Great decor, comfy beds. The staff helpfully arranged a cake for a reunion at short notice. If traffic noise bothers you, ask the for the back rooms. Would recommend the avocado vinaigarette.

If one looks at the dates of the reviews one sees that those rating average or below are mostly all from five or more years ago. Although the rooms are not large they are decently laid out and provide everything the average traveler wants. I stayed at several places later which had much higher reviews that were not as well designed as this one. Food choice was excellent and the food itself very good.

We arrived late in Masindi, after our safari drive, only to find our hotel had given away our rooms. (even after confirmation) We didn’t know what to do and were beyond stressed. We called Masindi Hotel, and surprise, surprise they had rooms. They very kindly opened up their hotel for us. They greeted us with fresh juice and amazing hospitality. They could tell we were exhausted and hungry, and they kindly offered to open the kitchen and make us dinner. We were so hungry, and we almost cried when they offered this. Who does this in today’s world?!? Their food is delicious by the way!!! Butter chicken was our favorite! We loved the historical tour and found the place to be full of charm and history. (Kathryn Hepburn, Humphrey Bogart, and Hemingway all stayed here) It’s a one-in-a million hotel. Place was so clean!!! Great mosquito nets, fluffy towels, and comfortable beds!!! We also appreciated the very hot showers with amazing water pressure!!! My husband said it was the best shower he’s had in Uganda. We lived here for years, so that says a lot. Stay at Masindi Hotel!! You’ll be so blessed!

Ein interessantes Hotel mit Geschichte und einem schönen Innenhof. Die Zimmer sind sehr einfach eingerichtet, aber für 1 Übernachtung ok; wir hatten den Eindruck, dass sich seit Katherine Hepburn hier zur Ruhe gebettet hat, an der Einrichtung nicht viel geändert hat. In der Lodge gibt es viel zu bestaunen - Schnitzereien, Masken, alte Möbel, die Bar, die Hemingway gerne besucht hat. Leider zeugt davon nur noch ein Schild, die Bar selber ist eine Abstellkammer, da wäre noch Potenzial nach oben!
