Premier Inn Hartlepool Marina

place is convenient for business travellers. Hotel is clean and tidy.

We were visiting family in the area and this was a good choice for us. The room was clean and comfortable (the beds are amazing) and we had a lovely Marin a view (room 36). It was quiet and we had no problems in the hotel. The parking charges are clearly advertised on the website and frankly it’s not the fault of the staff here, that’s down to the senior management of PI. The breakfast was OK - it’s not as good as PI breakfasts used to be but it as freshly cooked and there was plenty of it. We had a table overlooking the other side of the Marina which was fantastic and kept my son entertained. The best thing was the staff - everyone was cheerful, helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble - I left ly headphones in the room and the receptionist and manager have helped send them back to me. We will be back! Thank you all for a great stay.

The location/view I loved and that made it for me. I had a good nights sleep so that's a bonus. The room was clean and tidy. I would recommend this hotel for its location and I would stay here again myself. On the flip side yes I think the rooms could be updated in terms of being freshened up, new TV's adding (the one I had was outdated). The car parking cost, I am not sure why this is needed for hotel guests as it seems like an extra unnecessary charge to pay. Rather could hotel guests not log their number plate at the hotel reception as the same process at other Premier Inn hotels and not pay this extra change. I paid extra for a room with a view as that was my only available choice. But all rooms do have a nice view. They just have different views and be aware that rooms over look the car park. I think the extra room charge is not unnecessary really. I was away for my birthday so we tried the restaurant right next door to the hotel. The meal was not good at all and it totally spoiled my birthday meal. I would strongly advise not eating at this restaurant. As it was hot weather at the time of my stay there were a group of teenage kids jumping into the marina water, playing loud music, dancing, chatting for hours and left rubbish behind. I could see and hear all of this outside my room window. It did spoil my getaway a little bit but it did stop later on in the evening when it got dark. But it would have been nicer had they not been there at all and also if the hotel had stopped this situation from going on.

We have stayed at this Premier Inn many times over the last few years. The location next to the marina was why we stayed the first time and then why we kept on returning. It was always great value and all but 2 rooms I believe , have views of at least part of the marina. We never had much luck with the food in the restaurant and chose to dine out as there is plenty of choice of good restaurants nearby. Sadly, many of the original great things with this hotel have now changed. Price increases generally, (which is the same across most hotels), however, you now pay extra for rooms with a view and this last time we visited, there are now parking charges. The car park is no longer free. It is only £3 per night, but that will almost certainly increase over time. The hotel is looking shabby, less clean and the rooms look tired. The WIFI, although free and has worked well in the past, was a nightmare this weekend and I was constantly having to sign back in every few minutes. The reception staff were pleasant as always and it must be quite difficult for them as they must also notice the decline in the hotel as well as we have. Such a shame, but we will be looking for alternative hotel groups when we visit the North East.

This Premier Inn appears to be long overdue a refresh. Stained carpets in the hallways and peeling paint on the balcony railings add nothing to the experience. The view of the old west dock through the peeling paint on the window bars was depressing rather than uplifting, certainly not worth the extra tenner for a room with a view. Breakfast in the attached Brewers Fayre was an abysmal buffet style affair, whatever happened to cooked to order?

Unpleasant check in experience with stressed and disinterested staff. No servicing of rooms for multiple night stays any more. Really bad wifi connection. Entire facility showing its age and lack of renovation. Excellent experience at separate restaurant on site for breakfasts.
