We stayed in one of the cottages. Walking up to the front door was like being in a horror movie. It was dirty and cobwebs everywhere. Open the door and think “this is nice” until we settled in. The floors were dirty and bugs all around. There was black mold growing on the ceiling in the master bathroom. Our wi-fi didn’t work so they moved us to another cottage at 8:30 at night. Second cottage was same way with the cobwebs on the porch and around the door. The floors of the front and back porch were covered with leaves, pine needles and looked like they have never been cleaned. The screen porch was creepy. During the night I came across a brown recluse on the baseboard in our bedroom. I killed it but how many more were wandering around the room? Needless to say, no sleep that night. And we had children with us that I would hate to think they would be bitten by a brown recluse! We checked out first thing the next morning. The lady at the front desk was very understanding and refunded our second night stay. We will not be staying at Ky Dam Village ever again.

Bed bugs. We went to KDV for an extended family weekend and have still been living with the bed bug drama one week later. After unknowingly sleeping in a bed bug infested room the first night, we saw a bed bed walk across the bed in broad day light. I quickly capture the bug to bring to the front desk for “proof” of the situation. They were apologetic and moved us to the annex building which was much nicer than room in the original building we were staying (room 232). The front desk was kind, but should have done more. They should have given us at least one night free if not the whole weekend or offered to pay for the cleaning services we have had to purchase since being home. When we packed our belongings in the bed bug room, we did a quick look to see how “bad” the infestation was and it was gross. We found living and dead bedbugs in the inner lining of sheets, curtain, and the corner of the room. Truly disgusting and unacceptable. Hotels get bed bugs but for this room to be in that bad of shape it has been ignored for a very long time. My children and I have bed bug bites on our legs and even neck from our one night in the room. We got home and left all of our luggage in the yard and had to systematically clean clothes and take nicer clothes and eventually luggage to dry cleaners for treatment. I sent a private message to the lodge upon returning home and never heard back. Disappointed in an otherwise nice time with family. Lastly, checking is not until 4pm central time. No exceptions. We traveled 5 hours with kids from eastern time and were exhausted to not be able to check in until 5pm eastern time. Silver lining, less time with the bugs . Buffet for breakfast and dinner was good. Service at restaurant was excellent.

If you’re looking for a cheap place to stay and don’t mind outdated accommodations with little to nothing to do, with visible mold, water damage, and a generally neglected feel, then Kentucky Dam Village might work for you. But if you have any level of cleanliness or comfort standards, keep looking. The rooms are in rough shape — our unit had visible mold on the walls, peeling and warped paint from water damage, and a musty smell that hit you as soon as you walked in. The bathroom was especially bad, with mold in corners and crumbling drywall near the shower. (See attached photos - they speak for themselves.) Even the exterior looks run-down. Landscaping is minimal, and while it’s nestled in a pretty natural setting, the buildings themselves feel neglected and dated. The beach? Honestly, it was gross. Dirty water, lots of rocks, and not somewhere you’d feel comfortable letting your kids play or swim if they are used to cleaner water. It felt more like a poorly maintained public access point than a vacation destination. The staff were friendly, and the location has potential, but this park desperately needs investment, renovation, and basic maintenance. Would not recommend unless you’re just desperate for a cheap place to sleep and have zero expectations.

I rarely leave reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others. This "resort" was one of the dirtiest places I’ve ever stayed. There were dead bugs all over the floor, ants crawling throughout the room, and a thick layer of dust on surfaces like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks—if not months. Worst of all, I found old food under the bed. That’s not just gross—it’s dangerous for anyone with allergies or sensitivities. The condition of the room was unacceptable by any standard. It’s clear management has no interest in maintaining even basic hygiene. Save yourself the disappointment and stay literally anywhere else.

We were here for a family reunion ages 2-97. From the beginning the staff were kind, helpful, and accommodating to our family. The scenery was amazing! The facilities were great. The dining was pretty good though I ordered a gin and tonic that tasted terrible! 😂 I was grateful for the kindness towards the kids and also my 97 yo father.

This is probably the best state park in KY. It’s close to several restaurants and a short drive to other attractions. The lodge and cottage we stayed in were very clean and well maintained. We didn’t go on the lake or golf which are tourist draws to the area.

A very pleasant experience. The cottage had everything we needed. We enjoyed our trip to LBL very much. We also dined at Patti's settlement in Grand Rivers which was the main reason for our trip. Very good. Had excellent food and service. I recommend highly.

Stopped here to play a round of golf while in the area. What a nice surprise, the course was beautiful and very well maintained. Everyone was really courteous and friendly. Quite a value for the price.

The area is beautiful. The lodge is very nice, and the rooms were clean. The price was excellent. The beds were okay. Not great, but for the price I had no complaints. The only REAL complaint I have is that the balconies and patios are full of bugs and spiders. I very much enjoy sitting out on the balcony in the evening, and there was no way I was going to do that because of the large spiders that appeared on the balcony after the sun went down. If the balcony/patio is not that important to you, then I wholeheartedly recommend this place. The area really is beautiful, and the views of the lake are very nice. The people were all very nice, as well.
