Riad Catalina

This is the most charming place in the best location. It is within walking distance of the old town yet hidden away down narrow lanes so there is no traffic noise or fumes. It is very comfortable and the people are so lovely. Very helpful and good humoured. The breakfast is just perfect - very light with fresh bread delivered by a local bakery each day - if you're up early you'll see him arrive with it. We didn't try the evening dinner but definitely will next time. We were there in the colder weather but I am sure that in the summer the central courtyard will be perfect on a hot day with the mature trees and water features. My room was very comfortable and I slept really well. It was kept spotlessly clean. However it was up 30 steep stairs and I wasn't even on the top floor - there is no lift as it is a very old building. Consequently if you are looking for very modern facilities with super deluxe showers etc this is not the place for you. Also there are three gorgeous cats - if you are the type of person would squeal and shoo them off this is also not the place for you. They are well fed and very clean - one was heavily pregnant and she was trying to get in my room each night. I didn't mind at all but do hope that they will have her spayed after the kittens are born. Because vehicles cannot reach the riad you have to walk a short way to the main road to get your taxi back to the airport - however a member of staff helped and made sure we were in the correct vehicle. This Riad feels like HOME to me. The moment I arrived inside, the citrus scent from 🍋 lemons and oranges 🍊 welcomes you. All of the staff inside were so hospitable and accommodating. Additionally, the biscuits and the moroccan tea plus the dessert were stunning! I would definitely recommend everyone to dine inside because the foods they serve will let you experience what moroccan culture all about. When it comes to room and amenities, there is a pool on the rooftop, a good place to enjoy the sun, toilet and bedrooms is really cozy along with the ambiance and its architecture and interior designs. It was really a lovely stay. And having said that it was really like a home to me, there were lovely cats inside and a turtle, makes it really a nice place to chill. More so, the sound of the fountain and the shades of the trees is really a plus factor. Definitely will comeback and will choose to stay here again. 5/5.
