Campanile Marmande

I have used Campanile hotels many times over the past two or three decades and my experience, travelling North, on 25 July 2025 was extremely disappointing. Firstly, the overall state of the hotel is poor. It is in need of some serious TLC - there are loose tiles, peeling paintwork and the bedroom door had a gap at the bottom. Secondly, although the website, and the hotel itself, including a notice in the bedrooms, states that there is a restaurant, there isn't. It exists physically but is not in use. Thirdly, according to the notice in the rooms, breakfast on Saturdays is served until 10:00am: it ceased at 09:00am. My stay was, overall, disappointing but it was not particularly cheap. A double room, including breakfast for two was over €100.00. On the way South, two weeks earlier, I stayed at the Ibis next door. A smaller room, but perfectly adequate, with a passable breakfast: no evening meal, but they give you a voucher for a 10% discount at a neighbouring restaurant. Significantly, it cost less than half the price of the Campanile To be positive, the staff were friendly and the lady on reception, when I checked in, was very tolerant of my poor French - and the breakfast is excellent.
