Castle and Ball by Greene King Inns

No coffee at 6/7am. Bar dead at 10.30 (weekday). No phone charging in bedroom facility - had to raid lost property. Only functional, no frills.

I was very disappointed with a few things at this hotel. One of the reasons for booking was my liking of GK Ipa beer, it ran out before I had got a pint and nearly 5 hours later it was still off. On booking in I asked would we need to book a table for dinner and was told no only 4 tables booked. When we went to the restaurant at 6pm we were told it was booked up and so had to go into the bar area where you had to go and place an order for food via the bar. After the meal the waitress came to clear our plates asked how was the food and I said I had better to which a snappy reply was so what was wrong to which I said it didn't taste well. On reflection I think it was pre cooked then finished when I ordered. Very disappointed with the overall stay. P.S. The bedroom was so nice and comfortable along with the carpark facilities which were good 👍

Had lunch in the restaurant and quite honestly the food was very disappointing. My lamb shank was overcooked, carrots over cooked, mashed potato was stodgy and the mint sauce meant for the lamb had been poured over the broccoli! Then we had to wait nearly 30 minutes for our dessert as the staff were prioritising a table of 12 with their food. Staff service, with one exception, was also very poor. I have eaten here a couple of times in the past and found the food and service excellent, which makes this recent experience all the more disappointing. I doubt if I will return.

My friends and I booked a night in the Castle and Ball as it was very central and reasonably priced. We booked single occupancy rooms which were a very good price. The rooms were lovely, all slightly different, which we liked, and very comfortable. It looked as if they were in the process of refurbishing some of our rooms, so some elements s looked a little tired, but they were all spotlessly clean. As we were only in Marlborough for one night, we chose not to eat in the hotel, as we wanted to experience as many different places as possible. We did have a drink in the bar and, although the service wasn’t fast, this was because it was busy ( and popular is always good!) Drinks were reasonably priced. On arrival home, I realised that o had left my phone charger and make up bag in the room. The hotel could not have been more helpful; the items were immediately found and posted. They wouldn’t hear of me paying for the postage. The Castle and Ball definitely delivered and Marlborough is such a charming little town. I definitely plan to return.

Passing through Marlborough so there were plenty of pubs to choose from but chose this one. Bar Staff seriously need to work on their welcome, very poor, a smile would have been nice, just show some interest! Ladies toilets were dire, seats hanging off, bins overflowing. Thankfully the Sunday lunch was lovely ✔️

Went back to my home town for something to eat ,I wasn't at all impressed with the food. And definitely not the Toilets needs to be more accessible for people walking problems etc ,Definitely won't be going back Used to be a good place to go not now.
