The bedroom was clean but quite cold and very dim lights. The place was advertised as bed and breakfast and restaurant with pub food. There was no food whatsoever and was told to walk down the street. There was a live band in the pub that was so loud we were unable to sleep one night until gone midnight. All I can say is will will not stay again.

Lovely service from a clearly busy bar woman. Nothing a problem and helpful as anything. A proper British pub. Lots of seating inside with what looks to be a newly renovated outdoor area with mini bar in garden, will be back in summer for a pint outside!

We paid for two nights and stayed for one. Probably tells you everything. When we arrived at packed bar to check in they said they had no record of us having booked. 20 mins later they found. But although we'd booked for 2 nights (for 2 adults and a child) we would have to change rooms after first night. In room there were towels for one. Staff friendly enough but busy at bar. They told us it might be a little noisy. By God they weren’t kidding. We were immediately above 'band' in bar room below. Every time a bass note was played the pipes in the bathroom vibrated. Band finished about 10:30. We were then treated to canned music till 12:00. Unbearable. Save your money.

After a hard day moving house, we headed to the nearest pub for dinner. It was very quiet, possibly because it was just after 6pm, so we had a choice of comfortable booths. The menu has the usual pub fare as well as some interesting burgers. I chose the BOB which was loaded with cheese, caramelised onions and bacon - absolutely gorgeous! My husband rated his fish and chips highly, but unfortunately the homemade lasagne got a thumbs down from my granddaughter. However, she is used to supermarket microwaveable versions, so proper chunks of meat came as an unwelcome surprise. Very good value for tasty home cooked food.

Firstly felt for the new owners . Arrived to new people only taking over the day before, asked to buy a cup of tea to be told they didn't have a kettle, got shown to my room as it wasn't ready despite being informed 2pm check in I arrived at 5 . They had to help me being disabled I couldn't get up the stairs , the room was c l ean enough but no mattress protector plastic cups , needs updating. The outdoor steps were metal and luckily I was helped booked for 2 nights left first thing in the morning had there been a fire I wouldn't stood a chance . No food available at all we should have been informed of the owner change but definitely not disabled friendly .

This place is just not acceptable I’m afraid, The room was spacious but the carpet sticky, shower rancid with mould and generally smelly. The guy behind the bar was pleasant but it didn’t make up for the overall experience which was awful. I paid for bed and breakfast but when I left at 7.40 there was no sign of anything or anyone. I’m not serial moaner but this place is desperate

I see Trip Advisor lists the White Swan’s property amenities as having free breakfast but when my husband and I got there, we were told there was NO KITCHEN, so NO BREAKFAST! We weren’t told that on booking. Had to go down the road to the Advocate Arms Hotel for all our meals, which were all lovely, and we’d have definitely stayed at the Advocate had it not already been fully booked for the date we wanted. On arrival, we were told there would be a singer in the lounge that night and we might hear music in our room – that was an understatement, the music was so loud, it sounded like the singer was in our room with us! I had asked when the music would be finishing and was told @ 11pm but it went on way after that and seemed to get louder towards the end. This inn should not be taking in paying guests for accommodation, it really looks like it’s on its last legs, the rooms are very small with nowhere to put anything (we couldn’t get anything out of our suitcases) and if the owners want to stage live music, they cannot expect to have guests trying in vain to sleep upstairs.

We went to the White Swan as on their web site it states food served Tuesday to Saturday 5-9 pm. When I asked today, Tuesday 23 May, at the bar I was told very abuptly WE DONT DO FOOD ON MONDAYS AND TUESDAYS. I said that we were there because on their website is says that food would be served on Tuesdays. Again we were told in a louder voice with an unpleasent tone I'VE TOLD YOU WE DONT DO FOOD AND IT IS NOT ON THE WEBSITE. At this point I got my phone out to show her that it clearly states food served from Tuesdays. It was then she became agressive and said DO'NT CARE WHAT IS SAYS WE HAVEN'T DONE FOOD ON TUESDAYS FOR MORE THAN 3 YEARS, YOU MUST BE WRONG. I tried to show her the web page of the white swan but she turned her back and walked away from us. We were gobsmacked at her rudeness and agressive manner. we have never seen such rudeness!
