We have just returned home to Chicago but the memory of our stay at LaFonda Hotel in Marbella is still fresh in our minds. Having stayed at Relais & Chateaux property in the past, we felt comfortable in our expectations of the service and quality that the Hotel would deliver. The Hotel and its staff not only met expectations but exceeded them. We could talk at length about the serenity and luxury LaFonda provides, but it is the staff that truly elevates the total experience. Matteo, and the several others whose names I sadly cannot recall, took the phone figuratively out of my hand and handled all my daily requests for reservations and amenities by simply asking them. The staff that worked the breakfast room were absolutely wonderful, smiles always to start our day. I encourage anyone traveling to Marbella to seriously consider staying at LaFonda. Absolutely stunning hotel with friendly, genuine service. In the heart of Old Town, this is up there with the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. They have open air or indoor breakfast. I had scrambled eggs with him and cheese and it was exceptional. The rooms are comfortable, well equipped and quiet, despite being in the middle of town. I loved everything about this place and will stay again.

The location is superb, the building is beautiful, the hotel is boutique. The staff are friendly and welcoming. The room was clean and comfy. The breakfast was good. I would recommend this place for a couple nights stay. TIP - Enjoy cocktails on the rooftop - it is wonderful. For a 5 star properly, it needs to have spa facilities otherwise at best that is 4 star (it doesn't matter how beautiful, clean, great service they have, a spa or leisure facilities is how properties receive a 5 star rating). Perhaps in the future they can enhance their offering in this regard, especially for the price you pay (it is a boutique hotel for sure with character). This would definitely make it better value for money, as it is a little pricey.

This is a fabulous hotel! Everything was perfect. The staff were so welcoming and friendly. The room was beautiful. Breakfasts were fantastic and I was provided every day with beautiful gluten free bread. The location is ideal for walking around the old town. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

Lovely hotel minutes walk into Marbella Old Town.
Our suite was delightful, with every high quality amenity.
The restaurant was excellent for both breakfast and dinner.

Incredibly nice hotel... brand new... but with far too many things that fall short in relation to the price you pay and the level you could rightly expect from a 5 star hotel.
We stayed in a suite just to put it in perspective.
To name just a few
* virtually no wardrobe space
* no light in the bathroom by the mirror
* no light on the stairs in front of the apartment, which caused my wife to fall down the stairs
* no glasses in the minibar
* no do-not-disturb sign or device... which meant that 2 out of 3 afternoons we had staff standing in the room during the midday nap
* restaurant and rooftop bar were closed during our stay
* lack of storage space in the toilet
On the plus side
* Absolutely fantastic breakfast and service here
* amazingly beautiful hotel
* even better location
